An amazing story of a five-year old immigrant who left Ireland in the aftermath of the Potato Famine and arrived in Selma, Alabama at the end of the Civil War; went to college and medical school, found his way across the country to a remote part of Oregon. In the 33 years he lived in Lakeview (1887 till his death in 1920, he was the town doctor, member and chair of the school board, banker (established the Bank of Lakeview), rancher (7T Ranch, one of the largest livestock suppliers in the county), state senator, county judge, and a regent of Oregon Agricultural College (today’s Oregon State University).
