Between classes, work, extracurricular activities, and other commitments it is often difficult to find time in our schedules for the many events and activities available to students. But some opportunities are too good to miss. Such is the case with the upcoming Seneca Jones Timber Company Industry Tour.
“But why should I make time to attend?” you ask? Here are a few (but by no means all) of the reasons why you should consider RSVP’ing for this day-trip:
- ask industry leaders about their company – go ahead, they want to answer all of your questions.
- experience the community and environment of the company – as you walk around you will get a sense of what the atmosphere is like.
- see the facilities – this guided tour will be in depth!
- determine what a normal day on the job looks like – is it similar to what you’ve been talking about in class?
- professional development growth – this is self-explanatory but chatting with and touring Seneca Jones will provide you an important professional experience.
- gain experience interacting with professionals – listening and chatting with the Seneca tour guides will be good practice talking with industry leaders!
- networking – gain contacts for when you are looking for a job, like the saying goes, “it’s all about who you know…”
- find a job or internship – there might be an opportunity to secure a seasonal or internship position.
- learn more about what you want from a career – or what you don’t.
- engage with other COF students – maybe you’ll meet someone new.
Join other COF students on the Seneca Jones Timber Company Industry Tour on Tuesday, February 13th from 12-5pm. There is limited space therefore RSVP is required. Please contact Brooke Harrington by February 7th to reserve your spot. Stop by the Student Resources & Engagement Office in 133 Snell Hall to find out more about this and other upcoming events!
