Green Tea… Does it really work?

So many of us enjoy drinking tea. Who wouldn’t? It’s refreshing, sweet, and doesn’t drain everything out of our bodies. It’s hydrating and honestly has been said to be very good for us. If you’re like me, you want to know how, but you’re too lazy to research it… It’s okay, I finally made the trip myself, and I’m here to show what I found!

Delicious tea is all around us, but my main focus is green tea. Mainly because when I was wanting to lose weight and shed a few pounds, I remember briefly coming across comments telling me that green tea aids in weight loss. As much as that’s still interesting to me now, I have become even more intrigued by what else this tea can truly do.

Through Healthline.com, their website stated that,

Green tea is the healthiest beverage on the planet.

Ok, so that caught my attention. But why? The tea leaves contain abundant amounts of important nutrients that aid in protecting our bodies cells, molecules, and reducing free radicals in our system. Found within green tea is the compound Epigallocatechin Gallate, which is shown to battle numerous diseases, such as cancer, and maybe the number one reason why green tea is so potent in its healing and rich properties.

Many people may avoid tea because it doesn’t contain the caffeine that coffee gives, but green tea still is considered a stimulant. But what it does have that coffee does not, is the ability to improve the functions of our brains and memory processes. Green tea contains a powerful amino acid called L-theanine. This amino will

“increase the activity of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, which has anti-anxiety effects. It also increases dopamine and the production of alpha waves in the brain”.

This helps give humans a more natural “buzz” that in the long run will help them be more effective throughout the day and more energized. But, although it is incredibly healthy for you, people who decide to drink it all day long have to also be aware that exercise, diet, and healthy activities will help increase the benefits of green tea, it cannot act alone to heal and improve your body and health. Webmd.com has a Boston nutritionist explain that

“Green tea’s biggest benefit? “It’s all about the catechin content,” says Beth Reardon, RD, a Boston nutritionist. Catechins are antioxidants that fight and may even prevent cell damage. Green tea is not processed much before it’s poured in your cup, so it’s rich in catechins”.

Lowering cholesterol and improving blood flow, green tea became a huge notice for reasearchers and scientists everywhere. In an article written by scholars Sabu M Chacko, Priya T Thambi, Ramadasan Kuttan, and Ikuo Nishigaki,

“The health benefits of green tea for a wide variety of ailments, including different types of cancer, heart disease, and liver disease, were reported”.

So could I be drinking green tea for a long time and see results? My answer would be yes! In their article, Chacko, Thambi, Kuttan, and Nishigaki wrote that

“Long-term consumption of tea catechins could be beneficial against high-fat diet-induced obesity and type II diabetes and could reduce the risk of coronary disease”.

So, as I finish my green tea while typing inside this adorable starnbucks, I think Im going to be leaving here with a great sense of knowledge that I am indeed making healthier options, and will cointue to do so within my life. I want to live a life that is full. I think I know how to do that. Im not going to let anything stoip be from being a healthier version of myself, so that I can be the happiest version of mysefl, every day.

Juicing, Fruit, + More!

Truth is, everybody loves sugar!

My stomach started groaning as our car rounded the corner closer to our destination, four hours later. I felt as though my stomach was going to eat itself and I was so excited to eat a hearty meal. My dear friend was letting us tag along as she went home for the weekend. We were excited to meet her parents, but even more excited to eat. Sitting up at the counter of their island I waited patiently as her mother walked over to their large fridge. To my disappointment and complete surprise, the fridge was filled head to toe… with veggies. Mouth dropping open I immediately became uncomfortable. There were no frozen piszas, no hamburger patties, no noodles, no… meat!

My friend started laughing as she noticed my expression. She told me how her parents were extremely healthy and non-meat eaters. Pulling out a large contraption she asked me to say hello to their “juicer”. Still in shock I looked at the giant machine in wonder, completely unsure of what it was. A few minutes later I watched as veggie after veggie, fruit after fruit, was placed inside this machine, blended, and pouring its juice into glasses for each of us. For my drink, my friend took a large ripe pomegranate, lemon, some sort of grass, carrot, and apple. She claimed this concoction would help my body.

Now, I can’t say I had the most amazing experience. Because my body wasn’t used to this clean of a lifestyle, I was sick, tired, and starving. It wasn’t until the next day that I felt as if I had done a serious detox… I suppose in a few ways I did! But this was no joke. The juice… I wanted another! I asked for more pomegranate as it had been deliciously sweet! I then wanted to know exactly what I was getting myself into and decided to research it!

So what are the benefits?

According to Healthline.com,

“Pomegranates are among the healthiest fruits on Earth”.

These fruits are of course naturally sweet, but not only taste good, they contain high quantities of fiber, bioactive compounds of numerous plants, and different minerals that are all good for your body. Because it is potent in anti-inflammatory properties, such as punicic acid, pomegranates help to lower blood pressure and are also said to aid in heart diseases, obesity, diabetes, and cancer. All of this was great news to me as I felt as if my body was dying from my unhealthy diet finally having an abundance of veggies and fruits hit its system.

Various places offer supplements specifically because pomegranate is ridiculously good for you, and very few people know that or eat it! Enzymedica and pure encapsulations are two great supplements for pomegranate juice! They also taste amazing since pomegranates are so naturally sweet. Webmd.com also talks about how the tree and fruit of pomegranate have been used for various medicines since it is so beneficial to the human body.

Many researchers became interested in how this fruit works because of the immense healing properties it contains. Researchers Ephraim P.Lansky and Robert A.Newman decided to create a scholarly article on its results. Titled Journal of Ethnopharmacology, these scholars helped prove how effective the pomegranate is, stating,

“The pomegranate tree, Punica granatum, especially its fruit, possesses a vast ethnomedical history and represents a phytochemical reservoir of heuristic medicinal value”.

Personally, this was enough to buy me over. I now love having some juices here and there during my week or the month, to help detox my body, and keep my immune system healthy and fighting.

I know that a Healthy Me, Is A Happy Me.

Building Self Esteem Builds Endorphins

Today’s Special: Endorphins

If you’ve taken sex ed or any health or athletic course, you probably recognize this word. Truth is, there’s a lot more behind the benefits of endorphins than a lot of people realize, and it can easily start by simply knowing your worth.

Scientifically, Endorphins aid as analgesics. Similar to a sedative, analgesics are what decrease your brain’s perception of pain. When your neurotransmitters respond to a situation triggered in your body, analgesics are then released. Those transmitters are then bound to the same endorphins that bind to pain medications, but instead of acting in such a way as morphine, these specific endorphins do not cause dependence or addiction.

The Relationship

When someone feels bad about themselves or doesn’t contain much self-worth, they start losing their grip on reality and become numb to new things, challenging situations, and even start to hide away. This then leads to depression and anxiety. This is where endorphins become useful. Webmd.com explains the benefits of endorphins against depression and anxiety, stating how a positive feeling will emerge in your brain once stimulated. This can help you fight against mental health disorders clouding your judgment and daily activities.

How do you get them

Many people think endorphins and relate them to sex or working out. Though those are true, remember working out can be swimming, boxing, walking, or roller skating. Endorphins are also triggered when you participate in something that makes you feel good. This could be painting, laughing, concerts, or a significant other. Healthline.com also explains how participating in things we enjoy and activating these endorphins are in many ways how we survive.

Having good self-esteem is beneficial in numerous ways. Scholars have even written topics on endorphins and the ways they boost our self-esteem. Keeping us from falling into the shadows, developing eating disorders, and forgetting the beauty of life, finding ways to stay active or stay positive will bring you more good than harm.

A Happy You is a Healthy You

Keep Fingernails Healthy After Acrylics

What’s the sitch?

I love receiving a fresh manicure. There’s something about having long, pointy fingernails that makes me feel like THAT girl. One downside I have with getting my nails done is that the acrylics cause my natural fingernails to become super thin and unhealthy. I end up not even wanting to give them a break from the acrylics because of how horrible they look without them. I ruin the overall structure of my own nails just so I can feel good… that doesn’t seem fair.

A few of my friends don’t even bother with getting fake nails. Their natural nails are so beautifully long and strong. I asked them what their secret was and a few said it was just something they’re blessed with (not very helpful), and others mentioned a compound called biotin.

What really is biotin

Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin that uses your pancreatic beta cells to activate glucose-induced insulin. Increasing the glucose in your body will boost your metabolism in the liver. This can also cause an enhancement in your muscle cells/muscles. Webmd.com explains how biotin is commonly known for the positive effects it has on the growth of fingernails because it helps to strengthen them while adding natural shine and glow. Verywellhealth.com even claims “Biotin is a B vitamin often touted as a natural remedy for brittle nails”.  Not only does it serve for renewing the appearance and overall health of your nails, but biotin also aids in battling nerve damage and hair loss. Biotin deficiency is common among many people and can cause a lack of interest, hallucinations, tingling in the arms and legs, and even depression.

How do you get it?

Thorne Research is a brand that sells biotin and many other supplements. Thorne was established by Al and Kelly Czap in 1984. They wanted to give people a better market of supplements that was higher in quality and more natural to the body. It has also been certified by cGMP, TGA, and NSF.

Healthline.com says that biotin can be taken as a dosage but also consumed via the food you eat. A variety of nuts, egg yolks, whole grains, soybeans, bananas, cauliflower, and mushrooms are some listed to help improve your biotin levels in the body.

What does this mean

I’m tired of removing my nails and seeing the dents and damage my acrylics have done. I want to be the girl people ask if my nails are fake and I can proudly state they’re my own natural, healthy, and strong nails! A small amount of biotin could be the change you’re looking for. An added boost in your energy levels, hair growth, strong nails, and smoother skin all sound like great bonuses to me. After all, a Happy You Is A Healthy You!

Let’s Talk YOGA

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!

Perks Of Lifestyle Changes

There are so many substances you can take to help increase your diet and health, a great place to find these can be NHC.com which has multiple natural brands to help boost your immune system to promote healthy living. But, if you aren’t also making changes to your everyday lifestyle, you won’t see the best results you could possibly obtain. Depression and anxiety are some of the most popular forms of mental health that quickly decrease a person’s mood and cause them to lose grip on reality and the beauty of life. This then can be a dangerous pit to fall into, and even bigger struggle to climb out of. If you or someone you know struggles with these disorders, you may try this technique as a positive outlet to relieve stress, reduce anxiety and depression, and bring a new meaning of life into your world.

what really is yoga?

Yoga has been proven over and over as being an outlet to help human beings reduce the influence of stress on the body, aid in joint and muscle pain, boost energy levels, and act as a similar form of meditation and relaxation with yoga’s self-soothing remedy. Healthline.com does a great job of explaining multiple ways yoga can benefit your health by incorporating it into your lifestyle. This website mentions the “controlled, focused movements also help strengthen the body-mind connection”.

Back in my first year of college, I was required to participate in a PAC class. I chose yoga. I did the lower paced class hoping it would be a chance to slow down my day and help relieve any stress I had – boy was I right! The class not only implemented ways to help strengthen my core and increase my flexibility but continued to provide me an outlet of relaxation in an environment tailored to how slow or fast I was able to go.

Outside of school, I googled places offering yoga near me and found a studio that offered hot yoga. I decided why not and threw up the 20 bucks. It ended up being such a fantastic experience! Hot yoga is one of the MANY options yoga offers. There are tons of different branches of yoga from goat yoga to even naked yoga! It’s crazy!

Let’s chat: Hot Yoga

There are so many benefits to hot yoga. Don’t believe me? Webmd.com does great on answering a lot of questions and concerns people may have. In hot yoga, the temperature in the room increases anywhere between 90 and 98 degrees. This is why hydration before attending is CRUCIAL. If you aren’t used to the room being so hot, you can always get to the studio a few minutes ahead of time to lie still in the heat and help your body adjust before beginning the movements.

One thing to note about yoga is that this is not an embarrassing environment. I always felt embarrassed and insecure attending yoga in college and until I went to hot yoga, I realized it truly an environment to help you become a better you. Everyone in the room was so inviting and ages ranged from all over the place. Since I had no idea what poses were what, the lady next to me constantly mentored me through showing me each pose as it was called out. Sometimes, the poses were too hard, or I was simply just too tired due to being out of shape and HOT. That was perfectly ok. I could lie down or sit or position myself in child’s pose at any point or time until I was ready to continue. I kept a towel and water jug next to me, and overall had a great time!

Does yoga help get you in shape?

If you don’t want to take it from me, check out NIH.gov. A study was conducted and Catherine Woodyard, Ph.D., Sociology and Anthropologie, talks about the benefits yoga has along with the study’s results. The article claims “results from this study show that yogic practices enhance muscular strength and body flexibility, promote and improve respiratory and cardiovascular function, promote recovery from and treatment of addiction, reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, improve sleep patterns, and enhance overall well-being and quality of life”. Does that not sound awesome? Yoga acts as a workout ALONG with benefitting your overall wellbeing in numerous ways.

Getting started

Find a yoga studio near you and figure out which types of yoga it offers. I would encourage you to check it out and look into it. The effects could be life-changing and pairing a healthy lifestyle to a healthy immune system will help you kick your mental health disorders in the butt!

A Happy You Is A Healthy You!

This Substance Is Essential To Your Diet

Healthy You is a happy you

In my previous posts, I’ve written about individual supplements that boost specific areas of your life and help your overall well-being. I now want to write about ONE of those, that can be easily added to your daily diet, to cause your ENTIRE body and immune system, to thrive.

In short, what is it?

A micronutrient, zinc is crucial to the human body. Since humans cannot actually produce zinc, it is important to incorporate this compound into your daily eating habits. Zinc carries numerous important benefits to the body and is generally low cost as well. The most inexpensive and well known of zinc additives is zinc gluconate. Adding this to your daily diet will help improve your immune system without killing your bank account. I do realize though, it can be hard to know which kind of zinc is best for your own personal diet. The easiest way for me to shop for zinc is through Metagenics; a brand that sells various types of zinc supplements!

Proof: this cant be as good as it sounds!

I understand that a lot of the time we hear about these compounds being good for us, it’s still hard to know if it is true. If you’re skeptical, don’t worry,  I get it, so I made it easy and did the research for you!

Breaking it down, Robert B. Saper, MD at Boston Medical Center, along with Rebecca Rash, MA wrote an article on the importance of zinc in the human diet. In NIH.gov the two of them start out by describing zinc as “an essential micronutrient for human metabolism that catalyzes more than 100 enzymes, facilitates protein folding, and helps regulate gene expression”. These scholars explain how popular death by zinc deficiency really is and how adding zinc to the food you eat can benefit you in more ways than you may think. From HIV, upper respiratory infection, and the common cold or flu, zinc tends to become an essential part of what you need to function throughout the day.

Student Benefits

What about being a student at a university? How could this benefit you? Well aside from my earlier statement of it being one of the most crucial compounds our body’s need, zinc is extremely helpful in fighting acne. Zinc sulfate, another branch of zinc supplements, is especially helpful in the battle against severe acne and healthy skin promotion. It may also benefit those with a sensitivity to insulin. Keeping your blood sugar levels at a steadier rate, Healthline.com describes how zinc may be “effective at enhancing both short-term and long-term blood sugar control in people with diabetes”. I know, it really sounds too good to be true!

How do I take it?

If you’re now curious in the benefits of zinc and all that it offers to your body, you may wonder the best ways to get it into your system. Although supplements are some of the most common ways to take-in zinc, it can also be done just by changing the food you eat. Meat, shellfish, beans, seeds, nuts, dairy, eggs, and whole grains, all contain higher amounts of zinc. Dosage wise, MayoClinic.org does well on explaining some of the most effective ways to take the supplement version.

An hour before or two hours after meals is a recommended time for the intake of zinc. If you are prone to an upset stomach, you may also take it during a meal – though you should ask your doctor first! The amount of doses you take is all up to what you and or your doctor decide. For the United States, 15mg a day usually does the trick!

Inexpensive, crucial, extremely beneficial, this all sounds like a done deal to me! Stay healthy as you go about your day with strength and an added increase in your moods. Consult a doctor first, of course, but adding zinc into your life could be one of the best choices for you!

Lets Talk Mental Health

Importance of discussion

Mental Health is in an insanely important issue that I feel isn’t discussed as much as it should be. A lot of people grow up and have no clue that they even have depression. As a student, it is easy to get caught into the same schedule. You find yourself going to class and then going home to do homework and sleep. For some, having depression is embarrassing. People don’t want to admit anything is wrong and therefore do not seek professional help. This could also be due to expenses.

Keep in mind that depression is definitely nothing to be ashamed of.

Other Factors

Healthline.com gives a lot of information on how to know if you have depression, and what to do if you suspect it. Medications and therapy are common along with positive ways to help reduce depression, but for those who don’t want to seek professional help, are there other options? I would say yes! In fact, in a lot of my older posts, those relaxation techniques I have tried and have benefited me in my fight against depression.

Depression is a difficult battle, but there are things you can incorporate into your daily life that can help to boost your mood and fight that state of mind. In my previous post, I mention teas for sinus relief. Herbal tea is great for relaxing your body and mind. Waking up in the morning, drinking a glass of water with lemon will boost your metabolism and help you immediately feel revived. Incorporating herbal tea into your life for bedtime could help give a more calming effect.

Campus help

Therapy is commonly seen as a professional tactic to fight anxiety or depression and be able to communicate with someone. If you are someone who doesn’t want to go to the doctors, a lot of campuses’ have counseling centers. These places are safe spaces for students to be able to express their feelings freely and at no additional cost. Even campus here at OSU has an online website where you can chat anonymously with an advisor and seek support. Webmd.com helps to give further information on counseling services offered for different types of diagnosed depression.

What did I do

For me, it was all about motivation.

  • A glass of water in the morning with lemon
  • Working out in your free time
  • Painting
  • Listening to music
  • Hanging out with friends
  • Getting involved in your community
  • Trying different relaxation techniques

Getting into the habit of staying occupied whether that’s by walking in the park, or driving to the store, will help keep your mind from sinking into a low place. If you’re studying, try also studying in a place that is more populated. Womenshealth.gov explains many other ways you can seek help if you question if you may have depression. Remember, depression is NOTHING to be ashamed of. Find help and take care of your body and mind. It’ll benefit you as a person and a student.

Teas For Sinus Relief

The Battle

As a student, getting sick just isn’t an option. You have so many other goals that need to be met.  Maintaining a strong immune system to be able to complete your tasks with ease is crucial and you constantly feel you are battling viruses.

Essential oils, aromatherapy, exercise, and other topics I have mentioned are great for keeping your body and mind healthy, but to help keep your immune system in good condition, you might try some herbal teas to help protect you from your tiring fight.

Strap On Some Armour

Even if I don’t get sick for a year or two, one of the things I am constantly battling is sinus headaches or sore throats. This comes with living in the valley and being highly allergic to pollen and cotton. Gaia Herbs and Mountain Rose Herbs are some great solutions to finding sinus and throat relief.

Gaia Herbs: How Do they Work

Most Gaia Herbs are made into liquid substances for people to take easily. Healthline.com also explains how they are gathered from the Eleuthero root, which is an herbal “adaptogen” that helps to boost the body’s natural response to stress while also working as a stimulant to benefit your nervous system’s tasks.

What is also great about this product is how easy it is and how low cost as well considering most students can’t afford high price items. This goes for Mountain Rose Herbs as well.

On Top Of The Mountain

Mountain Rose Herbs was shown on npr.org just how amazing they are as they went from a small business to a booming success. These herbs usually come as a loose leaf tea, unlike Gaia Herbs that are commonly found in a liquid form. Mountain Rose Herbs uses certified organic ingredients which help make their flavors radiant and also the benefits superior.

Regular Routines

For me, my morning routine usually includes drinking a cup of water and a cup of coffee. Using Gaia drops you can easily take those with your cup of water in the morning after breakfast and then heat up a pot of water for your loose leaf Mountain Rose tea to bring your body back to balance after a long day or work or school. Taking care of your body is extremely important and just adding little things into your routine that bring benefits to you, can make a huge improvement in your attitude during the day. It makes you feel more energized and ready to face the day head-on.

Inexpensive, beneficial, tasty, and quick. Incorporate it into your day to see if it gives you a boost of motivation!

How To Be Healthy In College

Being healthy in college is the most difficult thing ever. It takes time, money, and energy to be able to keep up with a decent diet along with getting in your daily dose of exercise. I personally have experience in failing and being successful in each of these areas. Maybe some of these tips and tricks could be helpful!

Exercise

Getting out of bed earlier than you want can be so exhausting. You went to bed late anyways due to finals and studying and you have an 8am. The last thing you want to do is get up and go workout. Totally understandable. The best time I find to workout is in the evenings, and not every day! As a student, you finish most of your classes by 5pm. One of the best ways to get in some energy that’s more than the hustle and bustle to your next class can be going for an evening walk. That’s right, you don’t need to run or go to the gym. Go for a nice evening walk.

That can be hard to think of as something nice when you spent your day outside and on your feet for hours, but going from class to class during the day can be stressful. Instead of enjoying your time outside, you’re tense, carrying a heavy backpack, sweating, and worried about what you forgot to do for the class ahead.

Exercise isn’t just about looking good. It’s about feeling good.

Feel Good Exercise

In the evenings, I put aside all the things on my list, strap on some shoes, and take a walk. Getting in any sort of exercise when your mind is more in focus can really help keep your entire system in check. Healthline.com states that good exercise can cause “increase brain sensitivity for the hormones serotonin and norepinephrine, which relieve feelings of depression”. This means that not only are you doing what’s good for your body, but also your mind and soul.

When I return from a good walk, I enjoy taking a shower with aromatherapy soap. I’ve mentioned aromatherapy in my previous posts before because of how relaxing it truly makes my system. Webmd.com even says that “the oils may activate certain areas of your brain… which plays a role in your emotions. They could also have an impact on your hypothalamus, which may respond to the oil by creating feel-good brain chemicals like serotonin.” Although the walk was calming and peaceful, my heart rate was escalated and its now time to wind down my body. Aromatherapy soap is perfect for releasing tension in the body and restoring the connection with your mind and soul. Once I’m finished, I’m left with this boost of energy and feelings of success. This makes me even more prepared for the homework ahead.

Healthy Eating… Nooo

Pause. Before you make all the assumptions in your mind about what I’m about to say let me stop you. Eating healthy doesn’t mean you can’t eat carbs! That’s right. Eggs, bacon, steak, chicken, turkey, fish, cheese, etc., are all such wonderful proteins that are GOOD for your body (within moderation of course). One of the things I found that keeps me in shape but also keeps me energized is eating within moderation. Instead of restricting myself from all kinds of foods and buying overly expensive juices and shakes, I realized that all I really need to do is eat smart.

Instead of grabbing fast food at Panda Express in the MU, I make sure that when I wake up I’m eating a hearty breakfast, eating a hearty lunch, packing a good snack, and cooking a good dinner. You want to create an eating plan that can allow you to make your meals at home and help with portion sizes. This is backed up through Nih.gov, where they say “a healthy eating plan gives your body the nutrients it needs every day while staying within your daily calorie goal for weight loss. A healthy eating plan also will lower your risk for heart disease and other health conditions”.

Making food on your own will help cut down on the greasy, fatty foods you end up eating and BUYING when you feel you have no time. You save so much more money too! Know that familiar feeling of wanting to take a nap after you eat? Trying meals such as cooked steak with a side of broccoli or cauliflower is so much healthier for your body than fried rice and orange chicken take out and will give you that boost of energy that you really need.

Water

That’s all I have to say about that.

Self-Care + Self-Love

The most important step of being a healthy version of you starts with loving and CARING for yourself. Netflix has a great series out called “Queer Eye”. For anyone uncomfortable with that title, I encourage you to give it a watch. It takes you through the importance of caring for yourself. Looking good really does make you feel good. You cant expect to ace all your classes or be there for friends and family or participate in marching band when you can barely function on your own. You need time to yourself, time to recharge, and time to pamper. It’s not selfish, it’s not a waste of time, its truly important. It boosts your confidence and makes you feel even more motivated to pursue things head on.

So what does self-care and self-love look like? It is easier said than done, I know. Here is a list of a few things I like to do for self-love:

  1. Stay away from self-deprecating thoughts or comments.
  2. Do not allow others to make me feel inferior.
  3. When a negative comment is made by someone else (or yourself) – counter it with something you love about YOU.
  4. Look in the mirror and point out all the beautiful things about yourself.
  5. Buy clothing that FITS. Embrace who you are. (It will spark confidence).

Those are a few things I do to self-love. Now, what about self-care? Ah-ha! Heres some ideas:

  1. Paint your nails.
  2. Take a long, hot shower. (Use soap, use sponges, make it a pamper session!)
  3. Brush your hair. Detangle your hair. Moisturize or style your hair.
  4. Face masks.
  5. Aromatherapy + music
  6. Light candles
  7. Moisturize your skin
  8. Go shopping
  9. Go see a movie with friends!
  10. Buy makeup – Do your makeup
  11. Workout

Any of these things will add a bit of color into your life! Make things less of a routine of simply school, work, homework, and bed. Switch it up. Take care of yourself. Find what you love. Collect more passions.

Natural Pain Remedies

Why go Natural?

Recently, more and more people have been leaning into natural ways to get rid of physical pain. Medical care can be extremely expensive and especially as students, finding not only the time but all that money to help stop aches and pains of your system can be hard. So what about something less expensive that could reap benefits to help cure your pain? Sounds like a plan to me!!

Turmeric Benefits

Amongst many remedies, turmeric and terry naturally are two natural medications that produce positive healing sensations in the body.  Nih.gov states turmeric can reduce inflammation, heart attacks, control knee pain, and reduce skin irritations. What’s even nicer about turmeric is that its sold all over the place and for VERY cheap. Jamba Juice will sell turmeric containers for $2 to $3 dollars.

Terry Naturally Benefits

So what about other remedies? Terry Naturally are nutritional and botanical supplements that you can take by mouth. Curamin is one of the most popular components of terry natural as it helps aid in the internal processes and responses of the human body. Its popular line of supplements includes the “creator of omega-3/fish oil supplement Vectomega, as well as AnxioFit-1 for natural support for stress and anxiety”. These supplements are commonly found in rite-aid, Walmart, and other pharmacy locations.

Does it work?

I have many friends who have decided to take the natural route for not only the price benefits but also the incredible healing power natural substances produce. Personally, I have used turmeric for when I’m sick and its ability to help my body renew itself from the inside out is refreshing. Not only that, but as healthline.com explains the benefits of Omega 3’s, I also have introduced those substances to my body which have been wonderful for helping my anxiety, depression, and immune system. Together, both have made getting over the common cold and even the flu a much faster process!

Give it a try. A Happy You is a Healthy You!
