History of the College
The College of Forestry was founded over 100 years ago with a graduating class of four students. It has since expanded into currently enrolling over 1000 students, both graduate and undergraduate. Oregon State University’s College of Forestry is a well-known program outside of the state and has garnered top honors for its efforts. In 2006, an aggregate of markers led to Oregon State University’s College of Forestry to be tabbed the best in the North America.
The College of Forestry is home to seven majors. This includes the new Tourism, Recreation, and Adventure Leadership major as well as the Natural Resources ecampus major. From the College of Forestry, our students can go on to thrive in a variety of careers such as forest management, logging, public affairs, sustainability, engineering, ecotourism, and human resources, among a host of other options. The Fernhopper
Oregon State University College of Forestry’s Fernhopper newsletter has dated back almost eighty-five years. It is used to communicate with students about events, opportunities, and other related information occurring within the college.

The College of Forestry awards nearly $500,000 in undergraduate scholarships annually. Awards ranging from $1,000 – $9,000. The average cumulative GPA of those students awarded was 3.54. While scholarships are generally based on academic performance, some are specific to need, degree program, or other criteria set by our donors, so don’t hesitate to apply. New and current students who have been admitted to OSU or are currently enrolled in the College of Forestry are eligible to apply for College of Forestry scholarships.
