Introduction
Since the manufacture of the first car, motor vehicle industry have been going through transformation in efforts to create more sophisticated vehicles that ensure road safety and security to road user and which ensure maximum consumer utilization and satisfaction. Thanks to the technological advancement, the emergence of autonomous vehicles in the twenty first century is considered a blessing that is likely to transform road transport system. Just like traditional cars, autonomous vehicles are primarily developed for purposes of transport, however, these vehicles redefine the road transport system, there vehicles are designed with technological devices that enable them to reduce rad accidents and more effectively secure the lives of the road users (Anderson, Karlyn, Sorensen, Samaras and Oluwatola, n.d.). They are designed with technological capacity to sense their environment through the use of radar systems and other technologies giving them higher opportunity of navigating the road ways without the risks of engaging in accidents. In addition autonomous vehicles have technological capacity to differentiate different materials on the road allowing the user to make decision about the most appropriate path that can safely lead him to his destination
The history of autonomous vehicles traces back to 1920s, when demonstrative autonomous cars began to emerge. However, the first true autonomous car was launched in 1984 and1987 respectively paving way for the revolution that has witnessed many organizations developing such vehicles in the industry. Google is one of the major players in the manufacturer of autonomous vehicles. In 2014, Google introduced two- seater electric cars with relatively low speed. However, the company is showing it commitment to produce more cars with approximately one hundred electric cars expected to be produced by the end of this year. So far Google has created its own car company known as Google auto which is just purposefully aimed at manufacturing completely driverless cars (Anderson, Karlyn, Sorensen, Samaras and Oluwatola, n.d.).
