WTS fosters the development of women in the transportation field by encouraging bright new professionals to undertake careers in the area of transportation. One way it does this is by awarding scholarships to women pursuing undergraduate and graduate studies in transportation or a related field.

Eligibility:

  • Open to women
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Currently attending a junior college, trade school, college or university in Oregon or Southwest Washington. For Transportation YOU Scholarship: Current High School Senior in Oregon or Southwest Washington
  • For Junior College, Trade School, College and Graduate level scholarships:
    • Student must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a program in a transportation-related field such as transportation engineering, planning, finance, communications, operations, or logistics
  • Plans to pursue a career in a transportation-related field
  • Not previously awarded a WTS scholarship at the same level (Transportation YOU winners can later apply at Undergraduate and Graduate Levels;Undergraduate winners may later apply at Graduate Level)

Eligibility: must have a connection to the United States Military through falling into at least one of the following categories:

  • A current active-duty service member
  • Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
  • Spouse of a service member or veteran
  • Surviving spouse or child of a fallen service member
  • Child of a service member or veteran

And

  • Applicants must also currently be pursuing a post-secondary degree (associates, bachelors, masters or doctorate) at an accredited college or university, OR plan to attend a college or university the following academic year
  • Applicants must maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale

This scholarship is available twice a year.

Submissions of either fiction or nonfiction should be between 1,000-5,000 words. Submissions may be about any topic and in any genre as long as the ocean or a major body of water is the primary setting or aspect of concern.

This organization wishes to encourage promising writers to seize the opportunity, as part of their college career, to study about the sea, travel on the ocean, and live at Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea, the largest maritime museum in the world.

Eligibility: Undergraduates of any major in good academic standing at an accredited college or university are eligible. High school seniors may also submit.

This is an achievement based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors.

Eligibility:

  • Current high school (or home schooled)  senior attending school in the United States
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application
  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school
