Child of a Disabled Veteran Scholarship- $1,000

A 500-word essay that answers one of the following:

  • How has your disabled veteran parent’s experience inspired you in your education and career aspirations?
  • What advice would you give to a younger child growing up with a disabled veteran parent?
  • What do you believe is the single most important thing our society can do to help disabled veterans and their families?

Eligibility:

  • The legal child (natural or adoptive) of a disabled veteran of any branch of U.S. military service who is either a:
  • U.S. high school senior with a cumulative GPA of 3.0. or
  • U.S. student currently attending or enrolled in an accredited community college, undergraduate, or graduate degree program, with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Budge and Heipt Scholarship- $1,000

LasikPlus Scholarship- $2,500

There are not restrictions on the topic and genre of the essay, but the essay must show the entrant’s desire and ability to bring their vision to life through continuing education and community involvement. The essay must be the personal, individual work of the entrant.

Eligibility:

  • Be a full-time freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student currently enrolled at an accredited university in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States or its territories, or otherwise have a student visa valid for the entire duration of the specific Essay Scholarship Contest entered.

With advancements in medicine, there are more elderly Americans in the year of 2017. Unfortunately, as many as 5 million Americans over the age of 60 are victims of elder abuse each year. According to the Nursing Home Abuse Center, only 1 out of every 14 incidents of elder abuse are reported to local or state authorities. Based on your research, create an infographic to help the public better understand this silent epidemic. 

Eligibility:

  • Currently attending or are planning on attending an accredited United States college or university during the fall semester.
  • This scholarship is only available for students attending domestic US based colleges.
