This scholarship is given annually to one qualified student. The intention of this scholarship is to assist the recipient in finishing their final year in college or university, and may be applied by the student toward tuition or school-related expenses. This scholarship is based upon merit.

Eligibility:

  • Student must be entering his or her senior or final year at college or university
  • Student must be majoring in communications or other appropriate field
  • Student must have demonstrated an ability in sports journalism, through published articles, press releases, scripts, or other forms of sports communication
  • Applicant must be a student at a college or university in the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia)

Scholarships are given in order of preference to:

  • members of LPA who have a medically diagnosed form of dwarfism

The Enterprise/Joseph Lions Club provides financial assistance to Wallowa County students needing financial support.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must either be a Wallowa County resident or have graduated from a Wallowa County high school or have received a Certificate of High School Equivalency in Wallowa County
  • The students applying for financial assistance must have either completed one academic year at an institution of higher education, including multi-year vocational schools, and be in academic good standing or be enrolled in a trade, vocational program that has a one year or less curriculum.
  • The demonstrated financial need of qualified student applicants will be the primary criteria for receiving an Educational Grant award.

Each year the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center Auxiliary awards the Virginia Welch Scholarship to men and women planning to pursue a career in a medically related field. Application can be found below and postmarked by April 9th.

Eligibility: 

  • Student must be a high school senior
  • Student must be enrolled in or accepted to a program to pursue a career in a health or medically related field in a hospital setting

CHCI’s scholarship opportunities are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future.

Award:

  • $1,000 to pursue an associate degree
  • $2,500 to pursue an undergraduate degree
  • $5,000 to pursue graduate-level study

Eligibility:

  • Student must be enrolled full time at a United States Department of Education accredited community college, four year university, or graduate/professional program within the U.S. or Puerto Rico

Distracted driving causes thousands of accidents each year. At the Law Office of Neil Burns they see firsthand the personal injuries that these motor vehicle collisions cause.  They hope by offering this scholarship they will raise awareness to the dangers of distracted driving.
