After the whirlwind of activity that we packed into October, everyone h<\/span>ere at the OSU Special Collections and Archives are now taking naps.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>With our five events for Oregon Archives Month finished up, we just wore ourselves out!\u00a0\u00a0A big thanks to NWA for Oregon Archives Month funding to help with craft supplies, food, and\u00a0coffee for these events!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"IMG-7210\"<\/a>We showcased our Oregon Hops and Brewing Archives in an\u00a0open house<\/b>\u00a0(Oct 3rd<\/sup>)\u00a0<\/span>highlighting hops history documented in oral histories, photographs, homebrew\u00a0<\/span>club newsletters, industry periodicals, and art from breweries throughout the state. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
A\u00a0reception\u00a0<\/b>(17th<\/sup>) for our exhibit \u201cWomen\u2019s Words, Women\u2019s Work\u201d informed many\u00a0<\/span>Folks about the history of women at OSU. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
Throughout the month of October, we featured a different vintage dog photo f<\/span>rom our collections every day for followers of our Instagram account. #DOGADAY \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\"image002\"<\/a>Glitter in the Archives<\/b>\u00a0(Oct. 26th<\/sup>) event, where creative energies\u00a0<\/span>envisioned expressions of queer\/trans identities in the OSU community. For this year we\u00a0<\/span>had a very fun collaboration with the OSU Craft Center (more supplies!)\u00a0<\/span>and the promise of a \u2018Zine to be developed from the art that was created. Stay tuned! \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
A lunchtime showing of\u00a0films<\/b>\u00a0(Oct 12th<\/sup>) of OSU and Corvallis from the 1980s\u00a0<\/span>brought nostalgia and astonishment to a packed room in seeing aerial views of campus (circa 1983),\u00a0<\/span>the 1987 Mom\u2019s Weekend Fashion Show, and footage from the First Da Vinci Days festival in 1989.<\/span><\/div>\n
\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
\"IMG_4967\"<\/a>For the\u00a0Great Beaver Bake-Off\u00a0<\/b>(Oct 31st<\/sup>), our continuing annual celebration\u00a0<\/span>of historic recipes, 9 cooks brought 13 different kinds of baked goodies for\u00a0<\/span>sampling. Most of the recipes were drawn from the\u00a0OSU Folk Club Cookbook<\/i>\u00a0and<\/span><\/div>\n
the\u00a0Oregon State Fair Cookbook.\u00a0<\/i>According to our voting white board, the zucchini\u00a0<\/span>cheddar bread and lemon squares were clear favorites, while I thought the\u00a0apfelkunken<\/i>\u00a0was\u00a0<\/span>a visual stunner, and the chocolate beet cake had a surprising flavor (couldn\u2019t be beet!). \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
