Cher Wang founded HTC in 1997 and serves as Chairwoman. She is a powerful role model for women looking into technology fields.
As a young female aspiring to be successful in a complex STEM field, I can attest to the common sentiment that valuable female role models in technology, science, and engineering fields are few. I chose to complete my cultural research project on Cher Wang, because I wanted to bring forward someone worthy of being a female role model. While she may have come from a wealthy family, Cher’s current riches are all her own. She’s managed to stay out of the headlines, because she finds being successful and raising a family more important than garnering public attention. She understands the importance of philanthropy, and she’s committed to giving her consumers the products they want. She’s worked very hard all her life, and she has earned everything she possesses. I don’t think a young female could ask anything more of the perfect role model.
