During the meeting, we did a run through from initiation observation hours to saying your \u201cHello\u201d and \u201cGood \u2013 Bye!\u201d<br \/>\nHere is the summary:<br \/>\n&#8211;\tTip to Asking Observation<br \/>\no\tFace to Face<br \/>\no\tBe Polite<br \/>\no\tPractice with a Write Up<br \/>\no\tE \u2013 Mail or Phone<br \/>\no\tResume<br \/>\no\tPhone Call<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tName<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tYear \/ School<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tAsk for Observation Opportunities are Available<br \/>\no\tExpress interests in PT \/ OT<br \/>\no\tProvide Facility with Contact Information, Days and Times are Available<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tBe as Flexible as Possible as they are Taking the Time to give you experience in the field<br \/>\n&#8211;\tPre \u2013 Observation Follow Up<br \/>\no\tCall \/ E \u2013 mail the day before to verify your time<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tLets the facility know you are serious and will be there<br \/>\no\tAsk about dress attire if unsure (business casual is most likely) and location of facility, if need<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tBoys: dress shirt, pants, black shoes<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tGirls: dress shirt or dress, clean clothes, and black shoes<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tIron your clothes<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tBe clean<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tFirst impression is important<br \/>\n&#8211;\tObservation<br \/>\no\tArrive early<br \/>\no\tDress appropriate<br \/>\no\tBring with you:<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tWater<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tNotebook and writing utensil<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tQuestions (especially on return visits this lets the therapist know you are intrigued and are putting in the time and make the most of your experience)<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tFood, if appropriate<br \/>\no\tDon\u2019t lock out your knee<br \/>\no\tWash your hand, a lot<br \/>\n\uf0a7\t15 sec with hot water<br \/>\no\tHelp out, but know your limitations<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tThe more willing you are to participate in this manner the better the perception the clinician will have of you as person, student, and future practitioner<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tKnow and understand that you are not able to active participate in patient treatment<br \/>\no\tMaximums the experience<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tPatients interaction<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tHelp out \u2013 clean and put things away<br \/>\no\tBE OBSERVANT<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tAs an observing student, you are strictly observing (no patient care)<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tTake in treatment<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tAcknowledge the facility lay out, patient flow, culture<br \/>\n\uf0a7\tHIPPA<br \/>\n\u2022\tPut note down<br \/>\n\u2022\tDon\u2019t say anything<br \/>\no\tRespect the Therapist\u2019s time<br \/>\n\uf0a7\textraordinary opportunity appreciate it<br \/>\n\uf0a7\twhen a therapist is charting, allow them to do so<br \/>\n\u2022\tif not, leave the room<br \/>\no\tinteract with patient<br \/>\no\tDocument hours, yourself, with details of patient care encountered. Print out the following flyer and bring it to Papa\u2019s Pizza on November 29th, Papa\u2019s Pizza will donate 50% of your total purchases to our club. Tell your friends, family, and everybody you know. All the money raised during this fundraiser will donate to our Wheel \u2013 A \u2013 Thon Event during Spring term. You can print out the flyer at our blog under the fundraiser tap.<br \/>\nThere is a new tap available on the blog title Internship and Opportunity, where information about internship and opportunity can be finds. Also we can find jobs and observation there too.<br \/>\nIf you are a new member to the club, remember to sign the Membership Contract and pay the $10 club fee. This year, our club is offering a Mentorship Program, which the club will pair, members with other members to help each other.
