CPHHS Graduation Survey

Attention graduating seniors: On May 23, Dean Javier Nieto sent an email to your ONID email account, inviting you to participate in the 2017-2018 CPHHS Graduation Survey. A reminder was sent on May 29. These emails contain a unique link to a 5-minute survey that will help our office and our college understand how we can better serve future students and alumni. We appreciate your participation!

Student Budget Advisory Council

The Student Budget Advisory Council (Council) is a student group that serves in an advisory role to the University Budget Committee. The SBAC gives students the chance to engage with peers to provide input, raise issues and ask questions about OSU’s tuition, fees, finances and budget priorities. The University Budget Committee, considers the student’s input an important part of tuition and budget decision processes.

The Council meets every two weeks from October through March, and winds down the year with monthly meetings in April and May. The Council schedule for the 2017-2018 academic year were evening meetings the first and third Mondays and never more than 90 minutes in length. Student membership / participation is ideally for two consecutive years.

For more information, visit the Student Budget Advisory Council webpage. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 15.

Volunteers Needed for Healthy Athletes Program

Healthy Athletes_Volunteers needed

What is Healthy Athletes?
This program provides free health screenings in a fun, welcoming environment that removes anxiety that people with intellectual disabilities often face when visiting a doctor.

What would your role be as a volunteer?
You will provide guided health education to athletes through our health promotion discipline! Our health promotion stations include: Nutrition, Physical Activity, Hydration, Hygiene, and Tobacco Prevention/Cessation.

They are recruiting for two shifts of volunteers: 11am-2pm and 2pm-6pm. The event is Saturday, July 14, 2018.

Please indicate your desired shift time, and contact: Alicia Dixon-Ibarra, SOOR’s Healthy Communities Coordinator, or Joann Stoller, SOOR’s Sr Director of Sports.

Aspiring Educators Club

The Aspiring Educators Club is a new group in the College of Education to build connections, advocate for current and future education professionals, and connect students with resources they need to be successful before and after graduation. This new club is looking for people to share ideas and get involved in planning events for next year. They hope to collaborate with other clubs, schools, and educational organizations to bring the community together and provide opportunities to truly help the education system in our city, the state of Oregon, and the nation as a whole.

This new student club is a great way to connect with your fellow OSU students who are thinking about a career in the field of education while building community and developing resources!

Personal Support Worker Needed

A part-time position is available taking a 12-year-old boy with special needs into the community for social interaction and helping him work on his core strength (take him hiking, biking, or help him use the equipment at the park or swimming). The provider would work on social communication and appropriate boundary setting. There may be some money, math, or other practical life skills involved as well. At times, there is a 2:1 support if there is a beach or aquarium outing.

It is a great idea to provide your resume because it involves working in the developmental disability community.

You also must pass a background check. The position pays $16.99/hr. If interested, please contact Mary by phone at 541-760-1941 or email.

Athletic Training Club

The Athletic Training Club’s goals are to provide a means for students in the Athletic Training Education Program, kinesiology majors, and exercise and sport science majors at OSU a way to connect with each other, learn about and promote the profession of athletic training, and meet and connect with professionals already working in the field.
