Highlights

First Year Students: Requirements for Winter Registration PIN

All First-Year students are required to make a 25-minute appointment with their assigned academic advisor in order to receive their Registration PIN for Winter Term courses.

Registration HOLDS

Please check to see if you have any HOLDS on your student account. You can check MYDEGREES (go to MYOSU > STUDENT > MY STUDENT STUFF > MY DEGREES) in the HOLDS box at the top left. If you have ANY HOLDS, you need to resolve them prior to your REGISTRATION TIME. Otherwise, you will be blocked from registration.

The HEALTH SERVICES HOLD means you need to contact OSU’s STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES to make sure they have all your immunization/vaccine records. Vaccine Immunization Clinics will be held NOVEMBER 21. Visit http://studenthealth.oregonstate.edu/student-vaccine-clinics for more information.

Online HDFS Courses

Please remember that online HDFS classes are open to on-campus students after Phase II begins.

Survivor Support Group

The Survivor Advocacy and Resource Center (SARC) has a Survivor Support Group that meets Wednesdays in Plageman 311, from 3:30-5pm.

H 199 Introduction to Health Promotion and Health Behavior Professions, Winter 2018

The Health Promotion and Health Behavior program is offering H 199 in Winter 2018, a 1-credit course called “Introduction to Health Promotion and Health Behavior Professions.” This course is ideal for Freshmen/Sophomores/Juniors considering a major or minor in Public Health, with an emphasis in Health Promotion and Health Behavior. The course is restricted to Public Health majors and minors; however, an academic advisor can provide an override for the course. During the course, students will engage with community-based public health practitioners, HPHB professors, the HPHB internship coordinator, the HPHB advisors, and the Health Sciences Career Development liaison. Students will explore their public health interests related to Health Promotion and Health Behavior and define an elective plan for their Public Health degree. TRIAD Scholarship

The TRIAD Service Scholarship was established to further the goal of service as a value worthy of encouragement, acknowledgement, and reward within the OSU student community. Primary consideration will be given to undergraduates who are juniors or seniors during the 2017-2018 academic year. Evaluation will be based on undergraduate academic record (cumulative GPA, progress toward degree) and on service activities. Service includes any activities assisting organizations that provide services of value to the community. These activities may be with OSU organizations (academic, social, or student) or organizations in the local community and beyond. Although there is not a specific GPA requirement, GPA will be taken into account in evaluating the application.

Hunger and Houselessness Week:

This is a time for our community to learn about and reflect on issues surrounding hunger, houselessness, and poverty through education, awareness, and direct service. Oregon State University’s Center for Civic Engagement and Human Services Resource Center works in collaboration with various other departments on campus including the Student Sustainability Initiative, ASOSU, and Diversity & Cultural Engagement.

With hopes to educate, advocate, and lend support to community members who have experiences with housing and food insecurity, our Hunger and Houselessness Action Week will take place from November 8 to November 18. For more information, please visit: Hunger & Houselessness Action Week.

“Thank a Vet” Table

On Tuesday and Wednesday, November 7 and 8, from 11am to 5pm, in the SEC Plaza, you can make a card to thank a veteran for his or her service. Cards will be delivered by the OSU Healthy Aging Club to the Lebanon Veterans Home on Friday, November 10, Veterans Day. Flyer for Thank a Vet.
