Need Feedback from International Students

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences will be holding meetings during the Spring 2018 term to get feedback on what it’s like to be an international student in our college. If you are a current international student interested in participating, please click here to select what times of the week work best for you. The meetings will take place later in the term. We are only looking for your general availability Monday through Friday during the Spring 2018 term.

Zonta Scholarship

Zonta Scholarship Details, Zonta Scholarship Application

Are you an undergraduate interested in working to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health, or professional status of women or have demonstrated a willingness to work in a job or profession involving the welfare of children and women? The Zonta Service Foundation of Corvallis is accepting scholarship applications from students like you! The Zonta Club of Corvallis is an affiliate of Zonta International, a service organization of executives in business and professions working together to advance the status of women worldwide. A minimum of four $3000 scholarships are being offered. Up to $1000 will be made available each quarter to help cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies charged to a recipient’s account. Hurry, the deadline is April 6!

Job Opportunity Related to Sustainability

Job Opportunity Related to Civic Engagement

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) (part of Student Leadership & Involvement) is hiring student staff for the 2018–2019 academic year! The CCE student staff implement meaningful community engagement and service opportunities for the campus community. The student staff positions focus on the following responsibilities: community partnership development (local nonprofits and government agencies), event and civic engagement project coordination, campus collaboration and student organization support, leading student community service projects, and media and communications. Strategists (NEW student staff position): ASC Strategists have worked to get to know the resources on campus, have compiled information on them, and are ready for you to come in with questions and to work with you to find just what you’re looking for. In addition to helping students locate resources, our Strategists can help you find study and learning tools and information on the Learning Corner, strategize with you to make your study group truly effective, and help you schedule a coaching appointment.

Research Study Opportunity

A graduate student from Concordia University is seeking 10-20 volunteers for her research study. The purpose of the study is to compare sense of community in college students with Celiac disease and college students without Celiac disease. The study is conducted online, anonymously, and takes less than 20 minutes. If you complete the study, you will be entered for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card!

Fulbright US Student Program

The U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board, in cooperation with the Institute of International Education, are pleased to announce the launch of the 2019-2020 Fulbright U.S. Student Program application.

The US Student Program offers fellowships for U.S. graduating college seniors, graduate students, and early career professionals to study, conduct research, and/or teach English abroad for six months to a year. In addition, Critical Language Enhancement Awards are given to grantees for study of critical-need foreign languages before or during their grant period.

In addition to hundreds of traditional study and research grants, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program currently offers more than 1,000 Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship awards to over 70 countries.

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program selects participants through a competitive, merit-based application process, and offers several benefits during the period of the grant. These include funding for round-trip travel, living expenses for one academic year, and healthcare benefits.

Applicants to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program must be U.S. citizens and hold a bachelor’s degree (or the equivalent) by the beginning of the grant period. Individuals may be, but are not required to be, currently enrolled in a college or university at the time of application. Early career professionals in a range of fields, including artists, are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Children’s Adaptive Resources for Social Mobility (CARS)

The Children’s Adaptive Resources for Social Mobility (CARS) undergraduate club designs, builds, and distributes cost-effective models of toy-based technology, including ride-on cars, to allow for non-discriminatory access and availability to children with disabilities. CARS also contributes effort to the Go Baby Go (GBG) program. GBG is a community-based outreach program that works with families, clinicians, and industry to provide pediatric equipment to children with disabilities for movement, mobility, and socialization. The primary mission of GBG is to provide modified ride-on cars to children with disabilities to use as powered mobility devices for fun, function, and exploration.
