Highlights
IMPACT Needs Volunteers
IMPACT helps improve the motor and aquatic skills of children with disabilities. Groups meet from 5-7:15 pm on Fridays. Applications are due October 2nd by 5:00 pm, in Women’s Building Room 13. If you are looking for hands-on experience and love working with children, this is the program for you!
Seeking Team Manager: Rolling Beavers Wheelchair Basketball Team
The Rolling Beavers are looking for a Team Manager for the 2019-2020 academic year! This requires about 3 hours of volunteer hours per week and applicants may even earn credit for some experiential learning requirements. Check out the position description and turn in your applications to Dr. Josh Gess and Dr. Sam Logan by September 30th.
Etiquette Dinner and Networking Event
On Thursday, November 21st from 6-8 pm, join professionals at the Fall 2019 Etiquette Dinner to learn dining etiquette essential for networking, and job search with a professional butler over a 3-course meal! In addition to these amazing opportunities, there will also be employers and alumni interested in connecting with PHHS students. Register on Handshake today, space is limited!
OMSI Fellowship at OSU
The OMSI-OSU Communication Fellowship program is going to be on the Corvallis campus for the brown bag information session on Thursday, October 10th from 12-1:00 pm in LPSC 402. This session will be a great opportunity for students to learn more about the 2020 Spring Training with OMSI. The OMSI-OSU partnership is a great way to engage with the community and be a part of current OSU research.
OPHA 2019 Annual Conference and Meeting
The Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) is having their 75th Annual Conference and Meeting on October 14th-15th, 2019 in Corvallis, OR. Doors open at 8:00 am and presentations begin at 9:00 am at the LaSells Stewart Center. Early bird registration is open until September 30 and prices will increase on October 1st. This event connects public health leaders, professionals, advocates, students, and stakeholders to a variety of public health work.
Funding Available for 2019-20 Student Projects
The Northwest Public Health Training Center at NWCPHP is now accepting applications to support student projects in Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Idaho. Selected students will be funded up to $3,500 each during the 2019-2020 school year. Applications are accepted on a rolling bases through March 20, 2020. 2020 Oregon Parenting Educators Conference and Training Institute
Come join the excitement of the Oregon Parenting Educators Conference to learn about the critical role of parenting on child development. This conference will be held on May 18-19, 2020 at the LaSells Stewart Center at Oregon State University. Registration begins March 16, and Request of Proposals will open on November 4, 2019. OPHA Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training
The Oregon Public Health Association will be in Portland for the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST)! This four day training will be held from October 7 to October 10, 2019. This event will prepare you to move from prevention science and theory to practice using the Strategic Prevention Framework. OSU Operation Smile
Check out Operation Smile, a new club here at OSU! Operation Smile is a global non-profit that provides free and safe surgery to kids with cleft lips and palates in developing countries. The first meeting is October 1st from 6-7 pm in LiNC 343.
