- Fall term registration pins will be available starting next week! Students with freshman and sophomore standing must schedule an appointment with their advisors to get a pin. Juniors and seniors who are in good academic standing can get their pins from a Peer Advisor at the front desk. Schedule an appointment if you haven’t already, and keep checking your email for updates!
- Decision letters for ScholarDollar scholarship applications were mailed out this week. Make sure you check your email to see if you received a scholarship, and accept or decline it by Sunday, May 19.

Take Back the Night Rally and March
Take Back the Night is a night to support survivors of violence. This is the largest event hosted by the Survivor and Advocacy Resource Center on campus, and will include a rally with speakers from campus and the Corvallis community, a march around campus, and a speakout for people to be able to share their stories or show their support for survivors. The event will take place on Thursday, April 25th from 7-10 pm in the SEC Plaza. To learn more about this event and other events in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), click here.
Job Opening for Pre-Physical Therapy Students
The Albany Rebound Physical Therapy outpatient clinic is now hiring a full-time Rehab Aide (40 hours, Monday-Friday). Duties include assisting the therapists and front office workers, prepping rooms, setting up patients on modalities, pool maintenance, ordering supplies for the office, and smaller tasks that will help keep workflow run smoothly. This is a great opportunity for pre-physical therapy students graduating this spring that are looking to take a year off while or who are waiting to apply for PT school. AmeriCorps Opportunities with College Possible
College Possible is a national nonprofit organization with a mission to support students from low-income backgrounds through the college admission and graduation process. AmeriCorps members are a critical component of the programs’ success, serving students during a 10- or 12-month commitment. The program offers a variety of opportunities for services, including coaching high school students towards college application and acceptance; supporting and mentoring college students through college graduation; writing funding grants and other proposals; or planning fundraising, graduation and community engagement events. Full-time AmeriCorps opportunities are now available in Chicago, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Omaha, Philadelphia and Portland, along with select college campuses in Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio. Interested? Position Openings for the Student Health Advisory Board
The Student Health Advisory Board (SHAB) acts as a link between Student Health Services (SHS), Associated Students of Oregon State University (ASOSU), Student Fee Committee (SFC), and the general student population, and is looking for board members for the 2019-20 school year! Students must be available one hour a week for SHAB meetings and be committed to serving on the board for at least one year. Board members will be involved in evaluating proposed budgets for SHS, promoting services to the general student population, identifying initiatives that promote a healthy university community, and more. Apply to be a board member by May 10 at 5pm, and contact SHAB Advisor Sara Caldwell with any questions.
CPHHS Research Study Looking for Participants
The Sports Injury Prevention Research Group is seeking healthy and ACL reconstructed females to participate in a research study to understand the link between quadriceps function and ACL injury. Participation would be completed during a single testing session (2 hours and 40 minutes) at Oregon State University. Participants will receive $30 USD. Interested in learning more? Peace Corps Information Sessions
The Peace Corps is always in need of public health volunteers for its 27-month assignments abroad. Currently, there are 294 public health positions open in eight different countries (Ethiopia, South Africa, Ghana, Albania, Tanzania, Senegal, Guatemala and Peru) that depart between January and March of 2020. Peace Corps recruiter Scot Roskelley will be conducting two public health focused Peace Corps info sessions this spring at OSU: 12pm on Friday, April 26 and 12pm on Thursday, May 23 in Hallie Ford Room 225. He will discuss roles of public health volunteers in the Peace Corps, the types of backgrounds the Peace Corps is looking for from volunteers, and some of the perks of service that come along with being a Peace Corps volunteer. Students who are not able to attend the info session can schedule a one-on-one appointment with Scott via email.
A “Peace Corps Send-Off” meeting will also be held on Thursday, April 25 at 6pm in Strand 263. OSU students who are going into the Peace Corps will talk a little bit about where they’re going and why they decided to join the Peace Corps. In addition, the many Peace Corps alumni who work and teach at OSU will attend and tell a little bit about their service in the Peace Corps.

Pre-Nursing Club Upcoming Events
The Pre-Nursing Club has several upcoming events open to any students who are interested. On Tuesday, April 30th, Matthew Philpott will lead a training on bloodborne pathogens, sharps and personal protective equipment. On Tuesday, May 7th, Physician’s Assistant Heidi Wise will speak about myths relating to vaccinations. Interested in attending these events, or getting involved with Pre-Nursing Club? Participate in a Community 6K
The Oregon State Track and Field program and the Heart of the Valley (HOTV) Run Club have partnered up to offer a community 6K this month! The event will take place on Saturday, April 27, immediately prior to the Oregon State High Performance Meet. The 6K will begin at 8:15 am and finish at the Whyte Track and Field Center. Interested? Study Abroad Opportunity for Fall 2019
Looking ahead for opportunities this fall? Join two CPHHS faculty members on a unique faculty-led study abroad program in Taiwan and India during Fall 2019. Students will combine classroom learning with community based learning for a total of 16 upper division Bacc Core and internship credits. This program will offer students an opportunity to be directly engaged with communities to develop culturally sensitive, locally appropriate, sustainable, and technologically innovative solutions to meet the needs of communities. Celebrating Undergraduate Excellence Showcase
Share your research or other scholarly work, gain presentation experience and add an extra skill to your résumé by participating in this annual showcase. Current undergraduates in all years of study, all academic disciplines and all stages of research or creative work are eligible to present. This event is sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Education and the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and the Arts, and will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 9am-12pm in the MU Ballroom.

HDFS Student Club
The Human Development and Family Sciences Student Club is for all students, regardless of major, who are interested in learning more about human and family development and in gaining skills and knowledge to help improve the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities.
The club organizes several activities each term, including professional development, service, and recreational events. The club is a great way to meet students in the HDFS Program, build your resume, and gain experience for graduate school or work beyond college. Organizational meetings are held twice a term.
