CPHHS Club Spotlight

Public Health Club

The Public Health focus revolves around educating the student body on the importance of public health and facilitating partnerships with organizations in the community to promote public health. We hold
various fundraisers throughout the year to support organizations in the community such as CARDV. PHC also partners with the Boys and Girls Club of Corvallis to spend time educating younger generations about public health during their after school program at Hoover Elementary. Every year we host a week of public health-related activities to celebrate National Public Health Week, including engaging events such as documentary screenings and State Capital visits to learn about health policy. We are always looking for more students to join our club and to help us develop new ideas to facilitate campus-wide engagement in public health!

Highlights

Involvement Lounge

Student Leadership and Involvement operates on the first floor of the Student Experience Center (SEC 112) and is intended to help students connect at OSU. For students looking for a place to study or relax between classes, this space offers comfy chairs, bean bags, a kitchenette, some computers, games, and coloring books. On May 10, there will be therapy dogs in the lounge to help students destress.

Health Professions Fair 2017

Admissions representatives from 70 health professions schools in Oregon and across the country are attending the fair and eager to meet OSU students. The fair is today, Tuesday, April 25, 10am-2pm in the MU Ballroom. Students from all majors are welcome at this free event, which is appropriate for all students, from first-years through seniors. Programs represented include medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, physician assistant, physical and occupational therapy, veterinary medicine, naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, biomedical sciences, counseling, psychology, chiropractic, and more! Youth Tobacco Elimination Project

The American Lung Association in Oregon are seeking college and university students who would be interested in participating in the Youth Tobacco Elimination Project this fall. This project entails student groups applying for a mini-grant to receive funds to implement a tobacco prevention activity in their community, as well as talk with decision-makers about policy change. STEM Academy Fundraiser

Sigma Delta Omega is selling chocolate-covered cherries to raise funds for the STEM Academy. Each bag is half a pound and costs $5. SDO is a sorority with a focus in science and raises money each year for the STEM Academy at OSU. STEM Academy is a pre-college program that engages local K-12 youth in programs to encourage college attendance and participation in STEM fields. Plan for a PIN

Starting Spring term 2017, all students must have an approved Fall 2017 term course plan on file in MyDegrees in order to receive a PIN to register for Fall 2017 classes. Please refer to the PHHS MyDegrees planner tutorial for helpful tools on creating your plan.

OSS Online Appointment Scheduling:

TimeTrade
Our new online appointment scheduling system, TimeTrade, is now available to all students with an active ONID username and password to make appointments.

TimeTrade allows students to:

1. Schedule an appointment with their assigned academic advisor at http://health.oregonstate.edu/advisors.
2. Schedule a 15-minute, 25-minute, or 50-minute appointment based on the type of appointment needed.
3. Schedule an appointment up to 6 weeks in advance.
4. Schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment 24/7 online.
5. Schedule a same-day appointment if an appointment is made by 8am.

Please note that if you schedule an appointment with an advisor other than your assigned advisor, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment. If you do not know who your assigned advisor is, you can log in to MyDegrees, which lists your assigned advisor, or you can call us at 541-737-8900, and we will be happy to help you.
