• Jan 9: Classes Begin
• Jan 13: Last day to add a class by Web without departmental permission (Registrar Office)
• Jan 15 at 11:55 pm: Last day to add course with department approval and signature; last day to drop a course by Web and receive 100% refund (Web)
• Jan 16: Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, no classes
• Jan 29: Last day to Withdraw from a course with 50% refund. 0% refund after this date (W grade entered on transcript).

Highlights

Meet the new Head Advisor for the College of Public Health and Human Sciences’ Office of Student Success. Erin Heim will be advising Human Development and Family Sciences and Public Health students. She received both her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree from Oregon State University, and previously worked as an academic advisor at Colorado State University.

Job Opportunities

Peer Advisor
The Office of Student Success in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences is looking for student workers to fill 6-7 part-time peer advisor positions (approximately 4-12 hours a week, not to exceed 20 hours per week). Peer advising provides support and services to PHHS students in the following areas: academic advising, internships, study abroad, career development, graduate programs admissions, and accreditation and assessment.

Washington State University, Office of Student Affairs
The WSU Office of Student Affairs is looking to hire a full time employee to provide programming for students and staff on basic mental and emotional health topics as well as assist with grant operations for our Suicide Prevention efforts. The position pays around $32,000/year.

Service Learning Program

The Courier Program is an eight-week, service learning program that focuses on providing exposure to rural and underserved communities in Appalachia. Couriers typically have interest in learning about public health, health care, social work, or a related field. Couriers become immersed and engaged in the community through their Courier Clinic Site, Secondary Community Projects, and community participation. The program cost is $1500. However, courier interns do have the opportunity to apply for a travel stipend. The Courier Program is currently accepting applications until February 9, 2017. Winter Term Class Opportunity

AG 230 Introduction to Extension and Engagement (3 credits). Course Description: This class addresses the foundation conceptions of engagement, outreach, and extension. Students will learn about the extension service mission, philosophy, history, organization,  structure, administration, program areas, partnerships, volunteerism, program development, as well as extension teaching and delivery methods. Class is offered Tues/Thur 12-1:50, KIDD 280, CRN: 39378.
