Supporting Student Mental Health

Dr. Julie Posselt, Associate Professor of Higher Education at USC Rossier School of Education, will be presenting “Is access to opportunities in higher education equitable?” This presentation will include results from a National Academy of Education fellowship on equity and mental health in graduate education and the persistence of minority students. The event will take place on Thursday, June 13 at 2:30 to 3:30 PM in LINC 128. Can’t attend in person? Join the WebX here.

The Great Move Out: Off Campus Donation Drive

While moving out or cleaning up your home this week, consider donating items to the Great Move Out. These donations will go to a local nonprofit for reuse. Students can drop off reusable and recyclable mattresses, furniture, electronics, kitchen supplies, and even school supplies. Donations should be free of stains, tears, and excessive wear.

Summer Term Second Year Spanish

Complete Second Year Spanish in just eight weeks this summer! This course is being offered Summer Session 3, which runs from June 24th to August 16th. The class will meet Monday-Friday on the Corvallis campus. Sign up for this 12 credit course using the CRN 72204.

OPHA 2019 Annual Conference and Meeting

The Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) is having their 75th Annual Conference and Meeting on October 14th-15th, 2019 in Corvallis, OR. This event connects public health leaders, professionals, advocates, students, and stakeholders to a variety of public health work. Abstract submissions are open until June 17th, 2019 at 11:59 PM. Volunteers Needed for the Multiple Sclerosis Exercise Clinic

The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) exercise clinic is looking for volunteers for Summer 2019. The clinic will run on Monday and Wednesday from 11-12 pm from June 26th to July 17th in Women’s Building Room 7. Due to the shortened duration of this summer program, this opportunity is not available for Experiential Learning Credit. The only prerequisites to volunteering are having an open mind and a willingness to help people with MS engage in exercise. Make College Possible with AmeriCorps

College Possible is a nonprofit that aims support students from low-income backgrounds through the college admission and graduation process. College Possible is now accepting applications for AmeriCorps Coaches in Chicago, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Omaha, Philadelphia, and Portland! Coaches can specialize in supporting high school juniors with ACT/SAT preparation, supporting high school students as the transition into college, and guiding low-income high school students to making college connections. 2019 Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

Registration for the 2019 Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium is now open! This symposium, hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarship, and the Arts, provides undergraduates with an excellent opportunity to showcase their research or creative activity. OSU undergraduates in all years of study, all academic disciplines, and all stages of research or creative work (including works in progress) are eligible to present. Students will be able to choose whether they would like to present a poster and/or a 3-minute lightning talk. Students with artistic/creative projects and distance students are also invited to present. The event will take place on the morning and afternoon of Thursday, September 19th (exact time and location TBA). The deadline to register is August 23rd at 11:59pm. Summer Undergraduate Research Symposium

OSU Public Health Association

The OSU Student Public Health Association provides opportunities for education, social connections, professional development, and skill building related to public health topics. Undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty are all invited to join this group every Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. Most meetings take place in Waldo 400, but some weeks they may be hosted elsewhere. Contact club president, Gregory Desmond, for questions or more information!
