Walidah Imarisha has been gaining a lot of attention in the past few years for her public presentations, through the Oregon Humanities Council, on the history of white supremacy in Oregon. Her thesis is that Oregon was envisioned as a white supremacist utopia and while the legal apparatus supporting that vision has been largely dismantled (though only recently), the legacy of those efforts remain for social justice struggles today.
On January 22nd, 2015, she will be speaking at the Majestic Theater in Downtown Corvallis at 7:00 pm.
