The Latino community in Yamhill County has a rich and diverse history and has contributed greatly to the county\u2019s identity. Nuestras Voces y Herencia <\/em>is a project dedicated to gathering and preserving the life stories of Yamhill County\u2019s Latino community. The Yamhill County Cultural Coalition <\/a>and the Yamhill County Historical\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Society & Museum<\/a> are partnering with the\u00a0OMA to share the stories gathered.\u00a0The project is in its early stages – brainstorming ideas and spreading the word.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On September 25th,\u00a0the organization Unidos Bridging Community<\/a> hosted\u00a0the event “Celebrating Our Heritage: Yamhill County Embraces Latino and Anglo Histories”\u00a0 the OMA was there to show support and record the evening’s wonderful speakers! The fully bilingual event began with Miriam Corona and\u00a0Sally Godard of Unidos introducing the organization’s mission and services as well as\u00a0its positive impact on the community, and they then\u00a0invited\u00a0four\u00a0community members\u00a0to share their family histories: Bob Applegate, Elva Salinas, Ramsey McPhillips, and Guadalupe Villase\u00f1or (with translators Maria Sandoval and Valentin Sanchez).\u00a0<\/p>\n
