Last week the OMA traveled to New Orleans\u00a0to attend the Society of American Archivists<\/a> Annual Meeting. And the OMA presented, twice!<\/p>\n

First, the OMA participated in the “Women\u2019s Archives: What Does the Future Hold?” Society of American Archivists Pre-Conference at\u00a0Tulane University. As part of the panel presentation “Documenting Diverse Communities”\u00a0the OMA shared\u00a0two collaborative, community projects, the Chinese Disinterment Documents collection online exhibit and the Oregon Tribal Archives Institute, and how these projects can serve as models to assist communities in documenting their histories. The presentation is available online:\u00a0 The Oregon Multicultural Archives: Documenting Diverse Communities through Digital Stewardship and Archival Education<\/a><\/p>\n

Later in the week, the OMA attended and presented\u00a0at the Performing Arts Roundtable. The presentation included\u00a0updates regarding the American Theatre Archive Project and a description\u00a0of the Oregon Multicultural Archives’ relationships and project plans with\u00a0the Miracle Theatre Group and the Obo Addy Legacy Project.\u00a0The presentation is available online: American Theatre Archive Project Updates & The Oregon Multicultural Archives: Collaborations with Performing Arts Groups in Oregon\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Throughout the conference there were a variety of sessions that pertained to the OMA including presentations regarding Native American archives and collections, community\u00a0archives, building donor relationships, and collaborating with traditionally underrepresented communities to make their histories more visible.<\/p>\n
