This morning the weather was similar to yesterday, with a continuation of easterly winds about 15 knots and a south swell. During four encounters, we photographed and biopsied spotted dolphins in the Haava Channel between the two islands and on Tahuata’s NW coast, spinner dolphins in a bay on Tahuata’s west coast, and bottlenose dolphins (only photographs) just outside the same bay. During a break we also had the opportunity to snorkel with 8 manta rays which were feeding on plankton near our boat. So all in all, a productive and exciting first two days.
Ce matin la météo était assez similaire à hier avec une houle de Sud et un vent établi à l’Est, autour de 15 nœuds. Durant 4 rencontres, nous avons photographié et pris des biopsies de peau de dauphins tachetés dans le chenal Haava et le long de la côte Nord Ouest de Tahuata, de dauphins à long bec dans une baie sur la côte Ouest de Tahuatu, et de quatre grands dauphins (seulement des photos) juste en dehors de la même baie. Nous avons également eu l’opportunité, pendant notre pause déjeuner, de nager en palme-masque-tuba avec un groupe de 8 raies Manta en train de se nourrir de plancton. Notre journée fut donc productive mais aussi très agréable.
