I’m an associate professor of Botany and Plant Pathology at Oregon State University. I have a BS in Zoology an MS in Botany from Miami University (Ohio) and a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Georgia where I studied population and community ecology of tropical trees.
After a postdoctoral work at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI) and Imperial College London, I began my current position in BPP in 2012. At Oregon State, I teach an undergraduate course in Botany (BOT 101) and advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in Plant Population Ecology (BOT 442/542) and Plant Community Ecology (BOT 543); advise a fun group of students and postdocs; and direct a lab that is focused on the ecology and evolutionary biology of plant populations and communities.
