All students, staff, advisors and faculty or science and anyone who has taken or will take a science class is encouraged to stop by.

Get to know your community and our Peer Advisors, learn where to get help with homework at our chemistry and physics tutoring centers, tour our Mathematics and Statistics Learning Center and more.

Plus, there will be cake, giveaways and a contest to name the betta fish.

The newly launched Science Success Center (SSC) seeks to inspire undergraduate students to envision their futures in science and supports them through academic advising, access to academic and career development resources and programming, and opportunities for learning and development beyond the classroom. The Center not only supports students but also empower them to take responsibility for their individual learning and growth.

The SSC comprises more than 25 sophomores, juniors and seniors who serve as Peer Advisors and perform outreach to students via phone and email. They also meet with students on a one-on-one basis. Peer Advisors are supported and supervised by a team of four professional staff. Students can drop by anytime for help and find the resources they need to succeed.

Our staff and resources include:

Staci Simonich, Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs

Heather Arbuckle, Head Advisor

Jennifer McKee, Academic Advisor

Gabrielle James, Science Success Center Coordinator

Professional and Faculty Advisors in science

Stop by the open house to visit our new physical space that supports collaborative learning and a place for our diverse community of students, faculty and staff to connect and gather. The Center also hosts events for students so they can expand their science network of connections, gain greater professional skills and feel a sense of belonging in our science community.

A key part of the Center is our Peer Advisors. These trained science student advisors are well-informed on the tools, services and resources available to all students and can help you navigate campus services. The Peer Advisors have extensive experience with registration, study abroad, internships, research opportunities and campus activities and involvement.

Our mission is to provide an inclusive science resource center where students, as well as faculty, can make connections that improve their lives academically, socially, professionally, and personally. This holistic approach helps us build a strong diverse community that appreciates and values differences.

The College of Science hosts an Open House for its new Science Success
