The College of Science invites graduate students, faculty, staff and postdocs to apply to the spring cohort of\u00a0Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) Science Communications Fellowships<\/a>. The deadline has been extended to December 8, 2016<\/strong>.\u00a0Scholarships are still available, and the College will assist <\/span>accepted applicants find funding. All graduate students,\u00a0faculty, staff and postdocs in science are encouraged to apply even if they have\u00a0not secured funding!<\/p>\n

The spring cohort begins February 2017. Apply today!<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The Science Communication Fellowship Program seeks to build the capacity of graduate students, faculty, personnel and post-docs to engage public audiences with OSU research. The program includes a series of four specialized training and professional development workshops on communicating with public audiences.<\/p>\n

Fellows will also develop, individually or collaboratively, a unique hands-on educational activity designed to communicate their research to public audiences. The OMSI Science Communication Fellowship program is also an effective way to fulfill broader impact and outreach goals for grant-funded research currently underway!<\/p>\n

Held on OSU’s Corvallis campus, the workshops cover science communication best practices and provide opportunities for participants to practice new skills and techniques.\u00a0Fellows participate in a minimum of three \u201cMeet a Scientist\u201d programs throughout the year. The public programs take place on the second Saturday of each month and exclusively feature OMSI Fellows with their hallmark hands-on, table-top activities.<\/p>\n

Tuition for the program is $1850 per applicant.\u00a0The College of Science, OSU\u2019s Office of Engagement and Outreach and the\u00a0Center for Sustainable Materials Chemistry (CSMC) are offering scholarships. If you are working in a field related to food science and\/or nutrition, you can apply for a special OMSI scholarship.<\/p>\n
