An extraordinary journey: Honoring the Class of 2019

Commencement marks an important milestone for graduates as they transition to the next chapter of their lives. The College of Science honored our new graduates and their family and guests at a special outdoor reception in their honor on June 14, 2019, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. on the Library Quad outside Kidder Hall.

Science faculty, staff and advisors  celebrated the occasion with our soon-to-be graduates.

The reception featured a globally inspired menu, festive cupcakes and refreshing beverages. Dean Roy Haggerty and OSU Alumni Association Executive Director offered a few remarks and wished the graduates well. Graduates received a special graduation gift from the College.

The College of Science is graduating 617 students with baccalaureate degrees in 2018-19. Nearly 80% of our graduates are in the life sciences.

BioHealth science majors lead the way with 167 graduates, followed closely by biology with 156 graduates. This year, the College will award 64 master’s degrees and 70 Ph.D.s, among them are 20 new chemistry and 16 new mathematics Ph.D.s. The College is extremely proud of all of our graduates. It has truly been a privilege to see them shine at OSU. We look forward to their extraordinary accomplishments in science.
