Sigma Delta Omega’s beloved annual tradition— the periodic table cookie sale is back. Make sure to head to Kidder Hall this week to sample the delectable cookies that will be on sale from February 15-19.
Sigma Delta Omega—the sorority for women in science—baked 400 cookies over Valentine’s Day weekend. Karen Thomas, a BioHealth Sciences major and organizer of the event, said her team had a blast baking and icing the cookies.
Sigma Delta Omega has been hosting the event for 10 years. Every year, members bake the cookies and then add the scientific seal that makes them so special—the icing represents shapes of atomic numbers and names of the periodic table elements.
All proceeds from the cookie sale will go to Relay for Life which will use the funds to raise awareness and to support cancer research.
