She is an\u00a0Honors\u00a0College student majoring in Natural Resources with an option\u00a0in Writing About Natural Resources Issues. She began working\u00a0for the Recreation and Engagement Program in spring of 2013\u00a0and mainly works on communications, public relations, and\u00a0outreach projects. She compiles the quarterly newsletters and\u00a0writes the majority of the articles for each issue. Lucia has\u00a0helped with interpretive projects and assisted with forest\u00a0recreation planning efforts. She also helps with events such as\u00a0the STEM Academy camp hosted on the forest, as well as\u00a0National Get Outdoors Day. Her most recent project is Forest\u00a0Connection, the new fundraising and membership program\u00a0that she has been building on from a project started by two\u00a0College of Business interns last year. She suggests visitors\u00a0explore Dimple Hill for the secluded hike to the top and the\u00a0enchanting view. After graduating in June 2016, Lucia plans to\u00a0gain experience through seasonal positions at state or national\u00a0parks while continuing to practice and use her writing skills.\u00a0Eventually she hopes to end up somewhere in the\u00a0southwestern U.S, where it\u2019s warm.<\/p>\n<p>This student spotlight was originally featured in the College of Forestry <a href=\"http:\/\/cf.forestry.oregonstate.edu\/sites\/cf\/files\/news_stories\/Spring-Summer%202015%20Newsletter.pdf\">Spring and Summer 2015 Newsletter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lucia grew up in Talent, Oregon.
