This fall I spent a semester abroad in Hong Kong at City University of Hong Kong. While there, I studied a variety of topics including finance, accounting, marketing, and Chinese culture. This semester abroad was a prerequisite for the International Business option offered by the OSU College of Business. With the completion of this semester of study I have received all the necessary credits for my bachelor’s degree and have completed my studies at OSU.
Studying in Hong Kong gave me a variety of unique opportunities and experiences. I have a conversational understanding of Mandarin, and living in Hong Kong allowed me to practice my language with native speakers. The credits earned from my study abroad will allow me to graduate from OSU with three separate bachelor’s degrees. Lastly, the opportunity to live in a different culture gave me an insight into the Chinese mindset and broadened my understanding of the world as a global village. Overall, my experience was truly enlightening and fascinating.
Now that I have completed my undergraduate studies I will begin a position in risk consulting at a global accounting firm. The experiences I was able to enjoy abroad have greatly enhanced my personal growth and will continue to help me throughout my career. The scholarship I received from the Honors College was instrumental in allowing me to study abroad and I hope that in the future, others will be able to enjoy the same amazing opportunity I had.
