Lucia grew up in Talent, Oregon. She is an Honors College student majoring in Natural Resources with an option in Writing About Natural Resources Issues. She began working for the Recreation and Engagement Program in spring of 2013 and mainly works on communications, public relations, and outreach projects. She compiles the quarterly newsletters and writes the majority of the articles for each issue. Lucia has helped with interpretive projects and assisted with forest recreation planning efforts. She also helps with events such as the STEM Academy camp hosted on the forest, as well as National Get Outdoors Day. Her most recent project is Forest Connection, the new fundraising and membership program that she has been building on from a project started by two College of Business interns last year. She suggests visitors explore Dimple Hill for the secluded hike to the top and the enchanting view. After graduating in June 2016, Lucia plans to gain experience through seasonal positions at state or national parks while continuing to practice and use her writing skills. Eventually she hopes to end up somewhere in the southwestern U.S, where it’s warm.
