The OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center is turning 50, and you’re invited to join us in Newport for an All-HMSC Reunion! The Reunion on Sunday, April 12 will be a rare opportunity for anyone who was a part of HMSC’s 50-year history to connect with friends and colleagues from around the country. If at all possible, please spend the weekend with us, from Friday evening through Sunday. We have posted an informational webpage and will have a registration site up by later in February, for participants to register for the weekend and purchase tickets for the Reunion.

Schedule of Events:
Friday, April 10, 4-7pm: The first speaker of our 50th Anniversary Alumni Speaker Series will be Dr. Peter Rothlisberg! His presentation will be in the Hennings Auditorium, followed by a Reception in the Visitor Center. We hope to broadcast this live via internet for those unable to attend – stay tuned.
Peter Rothlisberg received his PhD in biological oceanography in 1975 from the OSU Department of Zoology. He is currently an Honorary Research Fellow with CSIRO (Australia’s national science agency) Oceans and Atmosphere Flagship, Fishery Assessment & Marine Ecology Team, in Brisbane, Australia. His principal interests include zooplankton ecology with a specialization in larval ecology in a broader context of biological oceanography.
Saturday, April 11, 10am-4pm: Marine Science Day
Join us for HMSC’s annual open house! This is your chance to learn about current research and connect with HMSC faculty, agency and student scientists and marine educators. Marine Science Day visitors wind through the Center’s labs and classrooms to view hands-on, interactive exhibits on current research for visitors of all ages, with ample opportunity for questions and discussion. The event is free and open to the public. http://hmsc.oregonstate.edu/marinescienceday
