Fun Stuff Happening At the Office

Pies for π day

March 12th, 2015

Increase your circumference with some delicious fruity and/or nutty fractions of pastries. And maybe—just maybe—learn a little something about transcendental numbers.*

Every mathematician in the office is crazed for National Pi day (3.14), and 7 out of 22 geeks agree the best way to celebrate an irrational number is to sacrifice some delicious baked pies in its honor.

So TOMORROW (Friday the 13th) our Fun Stuff Happening Around the Office group will throw an informal little pie party. Head down to the 3rd floor staff lounge at 3:14 to geek out and fill up on pie. Feel free to bring your own sweet, creamy, or pizza pie as well.

Linn Benton Food Share Bowling Event

February 9th, 2015
Bowling-photo1b

( A team from 2009 )

The 12th Annual Bowling Event for the Linn-Benton Food Drive is right around the corner! It’s from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, February 27. Once again, Lisa has very generously offered to buy pizza for Extended Campus employees that bowl- thank you, Lisa! To ensure a proper headcount, F’SH@O is offering to help organize Ecampus bowling teams for the event. Check out the sign-up sheet where you can create a new team, join a team that is already exists, or sign up as a free agent. Free agents may be called upon to join teams as they form. We started a few lists to get the ball rolling, but you may add a new team if they are full. We will be notifying Bryan Feyerherm of new teams as they form.

The annual bowling event is a great opportunity to step out of the office and enjoy your coworkers while you support a good cause. Please do seek out sponsorship commitments for the day. Some ideas are: $ per strike, cans of food per gutter ball, or maybe even a penny per point…don’t stop there, think of your own sponsorship commitments and get sponsors to commit!

End of Year Celebration!

December 2nd, 2014

Hello everyone!

We are excited to announce we will be having an end of the year celebration on Wednesday, December 17th, in the 3rd floor staff room, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm.

The end of the year celebration will be potluck style with lasagna provided by the directors. Please sign up for your dish with this spreadsheet— please note that you’ll need to reserve your oven time if you need it. Since oven space is limited, we highly encourage the use of crock-pots instead for warm food. We will have plenty of power strips for crock-pots and the like!

Along with socializing and eating food, we will be having an optional Gift Swap Game starting at 12:30 pm. In order to save our pocket books, please don’t spend more than $10 on your gift. This gift swap is not a white elephant, so if you do plan on participating please make/purchase a gift that you think people would enjoy receiving. Please bring the gifts wrapped in a box, bag, or envelope.

We hope you’re excited!

October 8th, 2014

What could better than spending a little time getting to know your fellow team members?

TATER TOTS! That’s right, tater tots.

Tator tots, specifically “Cajun Tots,” is the most popular appetizer at McMenamins on Monroe and FSH@O is picking up the tab on these yummy morsels. Join us for our McMenamins Mingle – Wednesday, October 15th from 5 PM – 7 PM.

This gathering is completely flexible. Drop by for a few minutes or come for a couple of hours. And, families are always welcome but not required.

We want to see your face! It’s nice to know something about each other besides what we do at work.

Please join us and be counted among the Americans who consume approximately 70 million pounds of tater tots per year.

Lunch Party: “All hands on tech”

September 27th, 2014

allHandsOnTechV2bS
As the new term looms, it’s time for another little gathering!

Swing by the 3rd floor staff lounge this Thursday for some free pizza, soda, and hands-on time with various interesting technologies. There’s a good chance we’ll have ipads with high end markers, hand tracking gizmos, and some of these new fangled “video games” you keep hearing about (maybe with a Xbox Kinect or Playstation Move). Heck, there might even be an iPhone 6 lying around that you can try and bend.

If there’s any sort of modern technology you’ve been curious to try out, just let us know. We cybermen and roboladies are always eager to share our 0101-warez. bzzt*bloop.
