{"id":1284,"date":"2013-04-17T09:33:41","date_gmt":"2013-04-17T16:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/freechoicelab\/?p=1284"},"modified":"2013-04-24T21:43:34","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T04:43:34","slug":"questions-to-ask-when-youre-in-a-job-interview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/freechoicelab\/2013\/04\/17\/questions-to-ask-when-youre-in-a-job-interview\/","title":{"rendered":"Questions to ask when you&#8217;re in a job interview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I recently found myself in a moment of panic.\u00a0 I was visiting Austin, TX and had arranged to meet with an education director at a science museum.\u00a0 I plan to move to Austin after I graduate, and wanted to get a feel for potential employment opportunities.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t an interview, and we weren\u2019t meeting to discuss a specific position, but I still felt unprepared.\u00a0 The night before my meeting, I sent out a panicked email to the FCL lab group titled, \u201cWhat should I ask the museum lady???\u201d\u00a0 To their credit, this amazing group of people immediately sent me responses with thoughtful questions to ask.<\/p>\n<p>Talking with the group once I returned to Corvallis, we thought it might be handy to have a \u201cback pocket\u201d list of questions to ask your interviewer when you go interview for a position.\u00a0 Here\u2019s what we have to start, any other suggestions?<\/p>\n<p>Let me know.\u00a0 Katie W.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What direction do you see the museum and the (education, etc.) department heading in the next 3-5 years?<\/li>\n<li>Are there any new initiatives or plans for expanding?<\/li>\n<li>Does the program have guaranteed long-term support?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the education or teaching philosophy of this museum\/department?<\/li>\n<li>Where do you see yourself as an educator in 3-5 years, is this a place you feel would support your goals and future plans?
