Je pense que le film était très intéressant et je suis heureux qu’il y ait de l’amour et de la famille. Je crois que l’immigration est un problème en France et aux États-Unis aussi. C’était réaliste! Je suis surprise que le film a parlé un sujet de société de l’immigration parce qu’il n’y a pas beaucoup de films sur l’immigration. Il est important de parler de ces problèmes. Les acteurs n’etait mièvre, ils etait émouvant. Je suis heureux qu’ils etait heureux à la fin! Je suis content qu’Alice et Samba soient ensemble! Pour le centre de rétention, Je suis triste que les gens sont là, c’est déprimant. Elle était un acteur déprimant.

 

Jack étudie la sociologie à l’université en France. Il est allé à Corvallis pour l’université aussi, mais pour un peu. Il aime la France et aime la cuisine française et non la cuisine américaine parce-qu’il est plus confortable. Il aimait voir la nature à Corvallis et préférait une petite ville. Il a dit qu’il n’avait pas beaucoup d’amis et qu’il ne pense pas avoir besoin de beaucoup. Il a un petit groupe d’amis comme moi. Il aime être avec ses amis quand il a de mauvais jours. Les étudiants français ont les mêmes problèmes que les étudiants américains.

 

Je pense qu’il est intéressant qu’il est très similaire à moi. Je pense qu’il n’a pas beaucoup aimé l’Amérique, c’est intéressant. Beaucoup de français gens aiment les Etats-Unis, mais c’est bien qu’il aime sa maison. J’étais très nerveux. Ce expérience a était très informative, parce que je connais quoi étudier!

I found this conversation really interesting and helpful to me as I realize now that even if I know words/ sentence formulation in french, pronunciation is a key part of learning french and something I need to work on. It was definitely harder than I expected, I came prepared with a full script of questions and tried my hardest to memorize hypothetical answers but once we began I became very nervous since talking with a native french speaker can be rather intimidating, and since he spoke very fluently and fast, I felt bad asking him to slow down or to repeat things. I often had to pause and think about what he said and try my hardest not to look back at my notes, I think when talking to my peers in class in french is defiantly much easier than talking to a native french speaker! But, I am glad I did it even though this experience was nerve-wracking and very difficult, I learned about what I need to focus on and how I need to improve my confidence when speaking. It taught me a lot about what goes into studying a language, just because you know a bunch of words in french doesn’t always mean that you can get around in France, I think if I were to go to France I would be a bit lost still since my pace is nowhere near that of a native speaker, and sometimes I don’t have confidence in my pronunciation and so I was worried he wouldnt understand me, I focused so much on trying to make my prononciation good that sometimes I wouldn’t fully listen to what he had to say! I tried my best and we had to record this conversation two times because he was going too fast, and I felt really bad.

• J’apprendais à jouer de la guitare rapidement. J’apprendrais l’instrument en cinq minutes. ( I WOULD learn to play the guitar rapidly. I WOULD learn the instrument in five minutes)

My thought process:

I WOULD learn, “The conditional is formed by adding the imparfait endings to the future stem” (pg 442)

SO,

apprendre: Je apprends (present): Je apprendrai (future, stem: apprend) : Je apprendrais (to make it the conditionnel)

•  Si j’apprenais la guitare, je jouerais avec mon amie Alexa qui chante, elle serait heureuse!

PAGE 442: Le Conditionnel

“The conditional is also used to express the consequences of a hypothetical situation using the structure:”

si + imparfait +conditionnel

“Verbs that have an iregular stem in the future tense have the same irregular stem in the conditional”  (PAGE 442)

There is a chart/ table on page 442 that has verbs in the infinitive and then translated to the conditional,

etre : to be (infinitive) = elle serait: to “would” be (conditionnel)

BUT

“Verbs that have an irregular stem in the future tense have the same irregular stem in the conditional” Page 442

etre has an irregular stem…

SO,

mon amie Alexa qui chante, elle serait heureuse

(My freind Alexa who sings, she’d be happy)

• J’aurais une maison en Californie que je ferais belle!

PAGE 442, LE CONDITIONNEL

There is a chart/ table on page 442 that has translations from the infinitive to the conditional,

avoir= j’aurais

faire= je ferais

WHY??

Becuase “the condtionnel is fromed by adding the imparfait endings to the future stem” (page 442)

BUT

“Verbs that have an irregular stem in the future tense have the same irregular stem in the conditional” Page 442

BOTH avoir and faire have irregular stems…

SO,

J’aurai= future infinitve , conditonnel= J’aurais

Je ferai= future infinitive, conditionnel= Je ferais

• Je veux acheter une grande et belle maison un jour.

We have learned the verb I WANT…which is vouloir

This scentnce is talking about what I want/ wish for myself, but it is in the present tense of what i feel NOW, so I left it in the future tense.

Acheter means to buy

So, ” i want to buy” translates into “Je veux acheter”

“Une grande et belle maison un jour” means “A big and beuatiful house one day”

I remember learning these words and contrived this sentence from my OWN memory. I just included it in here so I could explain that….for references the verb TO BUY is on page 7 and the verb TO WANT is on page 5

• Je prendrais mon amie Alexa en France pour des vacances.

I would take= Je prendrais

prendre= to take,

prendrai= future stem

SO,

conditionnel= prendrais

• Nous verrions l’art dans les musées, j’adore l’art.

We would see the art in the musuems, I love art

*Since meuseum is plural in my sentence I just added an s at the end? Not sure if thats right…

voir= to see, its also an irregular stem so the rule: “Verbs that have an irregular stem in the future tense have the same irregular stem in the conditional” Page 442

PAGE 483 has a list of ALL verbs along wiht their forms…that is how I know what the future form and stem for voir is…it says it on the page

so,

future voir (we form)= verrons….thus conditionel is verrions…I think? I looked at the verb parler on page 442 and just assumed since nous parlions is the we contional for parler that verrions must be the we conditional for voir. I think i’m right.

The word art I just know becuase we learned that a while ago…maybe in french 212 or something? I remember learning that word when we were talking about museums…. J’adore is a simple form of words that we learned in like chapter one? So I know that too.

• Je parlerais à Emma Watson, elle est ma favorite actrice.

I would want to talk to Emma Watson, she is my favorite actress.

For the part, “ma favorite actrice. “, im not sure if that is right I sort of just guessed, I know I should use ma which means my, and im pretty sure favorite is favorite and actress is atrice? I honestly forgot and I couldnt find it in the book but I remember learning about that word when we were learning about professions.

Je parlerais

PAGE 442, has a list of PARLER in the conditionnel, so I grabbed that word from there.

Antoine and the woman saw each other again one day, by chance, on the subway.

 

a- First, invent a little dialogue: what did they say to each other?

 

Antoine: J’ai peur que vous fassiez de gros efforts pour parler de moi en mauvais temps! Je suis désolé pour ce que j’ai fait. C’était just un sketch! Je suis vraiment désolé, madame.

 

Woman: Je suis triste que vous ne vous sentiez pas mal. Je pense que tu es stupide! Je me suis rendu compte que tu n’as pas de coeur, après que tu m’ais fait honte!

 

Antoine: Je crois que vous avez raison. Je suis une mauvaise personne. Tu es belle et aimeras un jour. Je me suis fâcher contre moi toujours. Je me suis fâcher contre moi toujours.

 

Woman: Beaucoup de mariages se terminent par un divorce, alors je ne veux pas d’amour. Les hommes se marient souvent avec les femmes beaucoup plus jeunes, je suis vieux. Je ne trouverai pas l’amour!

 

Antoine: Je s’intéresse à toi, Je peux vous dire comment trouver un mari. Comme un cours d’amour!

 

Woman: Pourquoi? Quelle expérience as-tu?

La femme épouse un homme nommé John.  Il lui a donné des conseils sur la relation. Antoine l’a aidée à le rencontrer un soir de fête. Après un mariage traditionnel suivi d’une lune de miel en Italie, les nouveaux époux s’installent dans un duplex à Toulouse. Elle est heureuse et il aime son travail de conseillère.
