or lobbies of Richardson Hall.\u00a0 We usually see around 30 companies\/agencies from around the state and region.\u00a0 <strong>What can you do now to prepare?<\/strong>\u00a0 Well, I&#8217;m\u00a0glad you asked!\u00a0 Visit <a title=\"Career Services\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/career\/\">Career Services<\/a> in the <a title=\"Kerr\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/campusmap\/\">Kerr Admin Building<\/a> for help in preparing or improving your resume.\u00a0 You may already have a resume but maybe you want to consider alternate or more noteworthy ways to visibly show your skills and experiences.\u00a0 Or perhaps you don&#8217;t have a resume\u00a0or much job experience.\u00a0 <a title=\"career services\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/career\/\">Career Services <\/a>can help you highlight your education, transferrable skills, and extra-curricular activities in such a way that your abilities stand out over your lack of employment history.\u00a0 It&#8217;s worth a trip to <a title=\"kerr\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/campusmap\/\">Kerr<\/a>.\u00a0 But, here&#8217;s a hint, don&#8217;t go unprepared!\u00a0 Draft out a resume that you can work from.\u00a0 Be sure to list any jobs you&#8217;ve had, any special certificates, awards, etc. you&#8217;ve earned including scholarships, sports you&#8217;ve played, clubs you&#8217;ve joined especially if you&#8217;ve had a leadership role&#8230;you get the idea.\u00a0 <a title=\"career services\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/career\/\">Career Services<\/a> also offers mock interview workshops and cover letter assistance.\u00a0 It&#8217;s nearly too good to be true and way too good to pass up!\u00a0 So, make way over to <a title=\"kerr\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/campusmap\/\">Kerr<\/a> and get yourself\u00a0prepared for the SAF Job Fair!<\/p>\n<p><strong>What can you expect from the job fair?<\/strong><br \/>\nThere will be tables or booths set up in the RH lobbies for each employer.\u00a0 They&#8217;ll have displays, information, and representatives ready to talk to all interested students.\u00a0 They may also be conducting interviews that same day or later in the week.\u00a0 They may want your resume.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do potential employers expect of you?<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst and foremost, employers will expect you to present yourself and behave professionally.\u00a0 And while that doesn&#8217;t just mean LOOKING professional it doesn&#8217;t hurt to mention here that you should NOT wear jeans and a t-shirt to the job fair.\u00a0 Rather, dress as you would for an interview\u00a0\u2013\u00a0and for lack of an easier way to describe it, the term \u201c<a title=\"business casual\" href=\"http:\/\/humanresources.about.com\/od\/dresscodesforwork\/ig\/Business-Casual-Dress-Code.-5BX\/\">business casual<\/a>\u201d will generally suffice for the job fair.\u00a0 They will also expect you to be prepared with your resume in hand.\u00a0 They will expect you to have questions and show interest in their organization.\u00a0 They will want you to know your schedule so that if they offer you an interview you can set up a time without hesitation.\u00a0 They will expect you to speak clearly and competently (no slang, \u201clikes,\u201d \u201cyou knows,\u201d \u201cOMGs\u201d or other texting jargon, etc.).\u00a0 And while you might never think of it they\u2019ll expect you to have a confident handshake \u2013 no limp fish at the job fair!\u00a0 And don&#8217;t forget to smile!\u00a0 Need more guidance?\u00a0 Visit <a title=\"career services\" href=\"http:\/\/oregonstate.edu\/career\/\">Career Services<\/a> for the full array of assistance!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The annual SAF Student Chapter Job Fair is not too far away.\u00a0 Mark your calendars now for Tuesday, February 7, 2012 and plan to be there!\u00a0 As always, the fair will take place in the 3 &#8220;knuckles&#8221;
