{"id":138,"date":"2016-09-21T15:07:23","date_gmt":"2016-09-21T22:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/?p=138"},"modified":"2017-06-01T07:57:16","modified_gmt":"2017-06-01T14:57:16","slug":"strategy-next-steps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/2016\/09\/21\/strategy-next-steps\/","title":{"rendered":"Strategy and next steps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Extension web upgrade project is entering the development phase!<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s an update on what\u2019s happened recently, what\u2019s next, and how you can learn more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After discussion with the project team, the O&amp;E executive team (Scott Reed and Lindsey Shirley) approved a set of <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/strategy\/\">essential commitments, guiding criteria, and strategies<\/a> for moving ahead with the project.<\/p>\n<p>This approach allows us to take the bold first steps in shifting OSU Extension\u2019s overall web strategy from \u201csite development and design\u201d to \u201ccontent strategy.\u201d This is a major shift and also an opportunity for meaningful, positive change.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve also created a <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/\">project blog<\/a>. Going forward, this will be the primary source for project information, status updates, and <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/faq\/\">FAQs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is a separate strategy and process for specific groups of sites and content in the OSU Extension web family. The <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/strategy\/\">strategies at a glance<\/a> blog page provides an overview of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Phase 1: Main OSU Extension web presence, County\/Employee Resources sites, and Program\/Other sites<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Phase 2: Developing and applying content strategy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In brief, Phase 1 development (through January 2017) is about transition and preparing sites and content for the next step. The <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/timeline\/\">timeline<\/a> page provides an overview of the milestones and general timeline for Phase 1 (through January 2017).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\">Note that one of the first steps you may be asked to assist with is identifying\/confirming contacts for site managers and decision makers for each website in the OSU Extension family.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Learn more<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Going forward, you can expect regular updates via the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/extensionweb\/\">project blog<\/a> and Extension ConnEXTion newsletter.
