{"id":914,"date":"2013-01-07T16:16:37","date_gmt":"2013-01-08T00:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/?p=914"},"modified":"2013-01-07T16:16:37","modified_gmt":"2013-01-08T00:16:37","slug":"oregon-academy-of-science-conference-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/2013\/01\/07\/oregon-academy-of-science-conference-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Oregon Academy of Science Conference 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Colleagues:<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; We invite you to participate in this year\u2019s Oregon Academy of Science<br \/>\n&gt; (OAS) meeting at Willamette University on Saturday, March 2, 2013.<br \/>\n&gt; Researchers may present their work as a talk or a poster.\u00a0 The talks<br \/>\n&gt; are scheduled for about 20 minutes (~15 minutes followed by 5 minutes<br \/>\n&gt; for questions).\u00a0 Posters (~4 feet x 4 feet) will be displayed in<br \/>\n&gt; common areas and participants will have an opportunity to view them<br \/>\n&gt; during the session breaks and lunch.\u00a0 The OAS meeting is a great<br \/>\n&gt; opportunity for scientists, faculty and students at all levels to<br \/>\n&gt; present work in progress and to practice for future presentations.\u00a0 If<br \/>\n&gt; you have any questions about the suitability of a potential<br \/>\n&gt; presentation please feel free to discuss it with me.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; If you are planning to present at this year\u2019s meeting please email an<br \/>\n&gt; abstract submission form and a properly formatted abstract to me at<br \/>\n&gt; <a href=\"mailto:ted.picciotto@pcc.edu\">ted.picciotto@pcc.edu<\/a>.\u00a0 Guidelines for preparing your abstract are<br \/>\n&gt; attached.\u00a0 Please review your students submissions to ensure they<br \/>\n&gt; followed the directions closely.\u00a0 The deadline for receiving abstracts<br \/>\n&gt; is February 8, 2013.\u00a0 Please note that at least one of the authors of<br \/>\n&gt; the presentation must be a member of OAS.<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; The Registration form, meeting and membership dues should be mailed to<br \/>\n&gt; the OAS Treasurer, Elizabeth J.O. Atkinson, OAS Treasurer and<br \/>\n&gt; postmarked by February 8, 2013.\u00a0 The registration and abstract<br \/>\n&gt; submission forms can also be found on the OAS web page::<br \/>\n&gt; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oas.pdx.edu\/\">http:\/\/www.oas.pdx.edu\/<\/a><br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt;<br \/>\n&gt; This year the ACS Portland Local Section is sponsoring an additional<br \/>\n&gt; session at the OAS meeting. We are promoting the submission of many<br \/>\n&gt; more chemistry oral and poster presentations.\u00a0 There will also be a<br \/>\n&gt; session after lunch featuring a keynote talk on solar energy by Carl<br \/>\n&gt; Wamser of PSU and a career forum with representatives from Portland<br \/>\n&gt; area private and public sector employers. We are also inviting<br \/>\n&gt; graduate programs\u00a0 to send a representative for purposes of promoting<br \/>\n&gt; their MS and PhD programs during the meeting. We have not decided on<br \/>\n&gt; the format for graduate program promotion yet, but it might be<br \/>\n&gt; recruiting tables in the poster session area and\/or at the afternoon<br \/>\n&gt; session. Of course we also encourage your undergraduate and graduate<br \/>\n&gt; students to contribute papers.
