A Ph.D. in chemistry is required for both positions. The successful<br \/>\ncandidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and research. Teaching experience<br \/>\nand postdoctoral research experience are strongly preferred. New College is committed to<br \/>\nrecruiting and retaining a diverse faculty. Women and candidates from underrepresented groups<br \/>\nor whose knowledge or skills can support an inclusive culture and learning environment are<br \/>\nespecially encouraged to apply.<br \/>\nThe teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. In<br \/>\naddition to classes and tutorials, faculty members provide academic advising, supervise<br \/>\nindependent study projects, sponsor senior undergraduate theses\/projects, and serve on<br \/>\nbaccalaureate committees. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a<br \/>\ndemonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching. The successful<br \/>\ncandidates are expected to establish and maintain a program of research. New College<br \/>\nwelcomes research programs that complement those of the current faculty.<br \/>\nSituated on the Gulf Coast of Florida and Sarasota Bay, New College is a nationally recognized,<br \/>\nhighly-selective public honors college with an 11:1 student\/faculty ratio. Students are<br \/>\nintellectually independent and highly motivated. Undergraduate research has a central role in<br \/>\nthe curriculum, and a senior thesis\/project is required of all students.
