Assistant Professor Positions in Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry at New College of Florida<\/strong>
\nNew College of Florida invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in
\nOrganic Chemistry and a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Bioorganic Chemistry,
\nboth starting in August 2018. A Ph.D. in chemistry is required for both positions. The successful
\ncandidates must be committed to excellence in teaching and research. Teaching experience
\nand postdoctoral research experience are strongly preferred. New College is committed to
\nrecruiting and retaining a diverse faculty. Women and candidates from underrepresented groups
\nor whose knowledge or skills can support an inclusive culture and learning environment are
\nespecially encouraged to apply.
\nThe teaching load is two courses per semester plus sponsoring individual and group tutorials. In
\naddition to classes and tutorials, faculty members provide academic advising, supervise
\nindependent study projects, sponsor senior undergraduate theses\/projects, and serve on
\nbaccalaureate committees. We are particularly interested in candidates who have a
\ndemonstrated commitment to innovative undergraduate liberal arts teaching. The successful
\ncandidates are expected to establish and maintain a program of research. New College
\nwelcomes research programs that complement those of the current faculty.
\nSituated on the Gulf Coast of Florida and Sarasota Bay, New College is a nationally recognized,
\nhighly-selective public honors college with an 11:1 student\/faculty ratio. Students are
\nintellectually independent and highly motivated. Undergraduate research has a central role in
\nthe curriculum, and a senior thesis\/project is required of all students. Students receive narrative
\nevaluations in lieu of grades. New College is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching

\nA complete application will include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, the names of three
\nreferences (including at least one who can address teaching), unofficial graduate transcripts, a
\nstatement of teaching philosophy that includes course proposals, a statement regarding the
\ncandidate\u2019s contributions or approaches to supporting an inclusive culture and learning
\nenvironment, and a description of proposed research that specifically highlights how
\nundergraduates would participate. Review of completed applications will begin October 2 and
