{"id":2337,"date":"2014-07-08T13:26:43","date_gmt":"2014-07-08T21:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/?p=2337"},"modified":"2014-07-08T13:26:43","modified_gmt":"2014-07-08T21:26:43","slug":"reminder-proper-lab-attire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dev.blogs.oregonstate.edu\/erlenmeyer\/2014\/07\/08\/reminder-proper-lab-attire\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder of Proper Lab Attire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With summer in full swing, just a friendly reminder about appropriate attire in a laboratory setting.<\/p>\n<p><b>Departmental Policy on Laboratory Attire and PPE<\/b><br \/>\nAll those working in Dept. of Chemistry laboratories, including undergraduate and graduate\u00a0students, post-doctoral\u00a0associates, instructors, and PI&#8217;s, are required to wear clothing\u00a0covering them from shoulders to ankles. Footwear\u00a0must be closed at the toe and heel. Short-\u00a0sleeved shirts &amp; blouses are acceptable, but not shoulder-less garments\u00a0(e.g., tank tops).\u00a0Long pants made of a substantial material are recommended and short trousers or short\u00a0skirts are\u00a0not permitted. PPE as posted must also be worn; for most labs within the\u00a0department this includes safety\u00a0glasses\/goggles (goggles only in teaching labs), gloves, and\u00a0lab coats. Graduate student TA&#8217;s working in teaching\u00a0laboratories are asked to be particularly\u00a0mindful of this policy and to follow it themselves and to apply it consistently\u00a0to undergraduate\u00a0students in their assigned sections.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With summer in full swing, just a friendly reminder about appropriate attire in a laboratory setting.
