Search Advocate workshops
Register now for Winter and Spring search advocate workshops. Search advocates are external members of search committees who serve as process advisers to advance diversity, validity, and equity in OSU search and selection. You can become a search advocate by completing the foundational two-part workshop series. Topics include current research, theory, and practical strategies to help search committee members test their thinking, address complex process concerns, improve search validity and equity, understand and promote diversity, mitigate conflicts of interest, and anticipate/help address a variety of potential bias risks. Learn how you can support and engage with undergraduate students, and share your own research, discoveries, innovations and interventions that bolster student success at the 2019 Undergraduate Student Success Summit. The summit will focus on the priority areas identified in the USSI Report, with an emphasis on supporting students’ transition to Oregon State University.
The summit will make the greatest impact when we hear from faculty and staff who are positively influencing student success. Presenters may give a five- to seven-minute talk, present for a 45-minute session or showcase work on a poster. You can also get involved by facilitating a small group discussion. Please submit
your proposal by Jan. 28.

NRC Research Associateship Programs Postdoctoral and Senior Research Awards
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine sponsors awards for postdoctoral and senior researchers at participating federal laboratories and affiliated institutions. These awards include generous stipendsranging from $45,000 – $80,000 per year for recent Ph.D. recipients, and higher for additional experience. Limitedgraduate level awards are also available. These awards provide the opportunity for recipients to do independentresearch in some of the best-equipped and staffed laboratories in the U.S. Research opportunities are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and for some of the laboratories, foreign nationals.

Accreditation
Oregon State University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. As part of the ongoing accreditation process, OSU is scheduled to submit a “Year Seven Self-Evaluation Report” to the NWCCU and host a site visit of peer evaluators from April 15-17, 2019. Accreditation by the NWCCU represents the commission’s judgment that an institution is satisfactorily achieving its mission and educational purposes and that it meets or exceed the commission’s standards of quality and effectiveness. OSU has been continuously accredited by the NWCCU since 1924, having been most recently reaffirmed Spring 2011. Oregon Sea Grant 2020-2022 Biennial Research Competition
Oregon Sea Grant invites researchers affiliated with any Oregon institution of higher education to submit pre-proposals for two-year research projects. These projects should address cutting-edge, socioeconomic and biophysical science related to important marine and coastal issues.
