As you may be aware there is a new Purchase Order Form (Revision 2_0). Please delete your old PO templates and use
the new form. The Department Webpage links have already been updated and point to the new form.
The reason for the change is there is now a field in the body called “CHEMICAL LOCATION”. This field is used for
ordering chemicals. Please include the end storage location for the ordered chemicals and Chemistry Stores Receiving
will create/update the EH&S Chemical Database and print a label for that purchase; removing that task from your group.

Purchase Order Form Revision 2

There were several additional changes that included formatting changes, data entry changes, and adding a couple
header fields.
If you have any questions please contact Rusty Root.

I’m pleased to announce the formation of the Office of International Services (OIS) within the Division of International Programs. OIS is a strategic reorganization of the units formerly known as International Student Advising and Services (ISAS) and International Scholar and Faculty Services (ISFS). This restructuring allows us to better serve our international population on campus and beyond.

We’ve hired Grace Atebe to oversee the newly-formed OIS, effective September 19. Grace comes to us from West Virginia University, where she served as Assistant Director of Student Support and Development in the Office of International Students. Grace holds an Ed.D. from WVU and an MBA from the University of Nairobi, Kenya. I look forward to Grace’s leadership, experience, and knowledge in this role as we move forward.

OIS will also have two familiar faces serving as assistant directors: Rachael Weber and Jackie Bangs. Rachael’s responsibilities are primarily focused on international student immigration compliance, while Jackie is focused on working closely with international faculty and scholars.

OIS will continue to help International Programs further its commitment to serve and support OSU’s growing and diverse international population and help them flourish on campus, in the community, and around the world.

This recruitment will be used to fill 3-4 part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) Student Support Services positions for the Academic Success Center at Oregon State University (OSU).

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a highly successful program and an integral part of the Academic Success Center. SI offers peer-facilitated study groups for students in historically-challenging classes. SI is currently hiring leaders to support the CH 23X series.

SI Leaders attend all lectures for the supported courses and are responsible for planning and leading 6 small-group study tables per week. Each study table is scheduled for 50 minutes, and tables are held weeks 2-10 of the term. The SI Leaders plan for interactive study tables to support students as they practice challenging course material. Students who participate in SI study tables on a regular basis, on average, earn course grades which are 1/3 to 1/2 of a grade higher than students who do not participate. SI Leaders will participate in required weekly professional development meetings.

This position offers leadership and professional experience for students interested in supporting their peers’ academic success. Appointment is usually for the academic year, but SI Leaders’ ongoing employment in that year (and in subsequent years) is dependent upon positive and professional work performance as well as the SI program budget. At times, an increase or a reduction in the number of study tables led may occur due to student enrollment.
