TRIAD Scholarships

The OSU TRIAD Faculty Club expects to award one or two $750 scholarships to OSU students of any major.  Preference is given to current juniors and seniors.  Awards will be based equally on the applicant’s record of academic progress and record of service to the institution or the community.  Further details about the scholarship and the application form can be found at:

The application deadline is December 4 and awards will be made in January for the current academic year.

The OSU Alumni Association is offering two $3,500 scholarships for internships in Washington, D.C.  No matter their field of study or ultimate career choice, opportunities are available – congressional offices, federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, trade associations, and many other potential sponsors. Oregon Women in Higher Education Conference

Proposals are being accepted for either a concurrent session or poster to the OWHE conference happening on Jan. 24, 2014 at OSU. Deadline for proposal submission is Nov. 4.  See http://owhenet.jigsy.com/ for more details. All conference presenters whose proposal has been accepted will receive free registration if they present at the conference and agree to facilitate one OWHE webinar during 2014-15. Students, faculty and staff of all genders and from both 4-year and 2-year institutions are encouraged to submit proposals and attend the conference. Chemistry students!

Some of the graduate students have rallied together and started an initiative with YOU in mind.

Strong, long-lasting mentorship, as well as personal and professional empowerment are two key pillars of successful individuals. OSU’s Chemistry Undergraduate Mentoring and Empowerment (OSU-ChUME) Initiative is here to help you achieve these two pillars.

OSU-ChUME will help you foster professional long-lasting relationships between you and graduate/professional chemistry students.

OSU-ChUME is also dedicated to empowering you with all the tools necessary to stay on top of the chemistry field.

We invite you to our inaugural meet-and-greet: 5pm on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Gilbert 324. In this meet-and-greet, you will get to know the growing list of graduate student mentors (& start forming these professional relationships!). We will also talk about all the opportunities this initiative plans on providing to you. Of course, light refreshments will be provided.

Postdoc Appreciation Week

All faculty, staff, students, and postdocs are welcome to celebrate the yearly OPAW, hosted by the OSU Postdoctoral Association (OPA) and the Office of Postdoctoral Programs, and acknowledge the work of OSU postdocs at the Postdoc Poster Session in the MU ballroom Oct. 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m., accompanied by wine and cheese. Don’t miss out on the vendor show (2.30-6.30 p.m.) and free chair massages for participating postdocs (2.30-4.30 p.m.)

The Research Office, Incentive Programs is accepting applications for the FRT Winter 2013-14 Solicitation (Spring 2014 Release). The program provides limited funding for individuals developing external grant proposals or who wish to further their scholarly activities.
