Annual Fire Inspection
Hi everyone,
It is that time of year again when the Corvallis Fire Marshal, Jim Patton, performs his annual fire/safety inspection of Gilbert Hall and Gilbert Addition.
Gilbert Addition will be performed on Wednesday, February 14th (Happy Valentine’s Day)
Gilbert Hall will follow on Thursday, February 15th
Inspections begin at 9:00 AM on both days.
Attached are the two safety checklists to use as a guide to ensure your areas are up to expectations. One is for the Offices and Classrooms, the other is for Labs.
I’m giving two-week notice so everyone has time to review their spaces and ensure we pass with minimal discrepancies.
The biggest culprits are:
- Extension cords used as a permanent, or long-term, solution.
- Power Strips daisy chained. I.e. All Power strips must be plugged directly into the wall outlet.
- Space heaters under Desks and too close to combustibles (the desk itself, waste and recycle bins)
- Doors propped open with the evacuation route impeded.
Thank you for your support, attention to detail, and focus to ensure a successful inspection process.
Sincerely,
Rusty
