Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences
The program provides funding to young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health. The current grant level is $300,000; $75,000 per year for a four-year period. For the 2019 award, one nomination will be invited from each of the participating institutions. The internal deadline for submitting a letter of recommendation for a nominee is June 1. Click this LINK for additional information.
Keck Foundation – call for concept papers
This is a call for concept papers for research projects in either science & engineering or medical research. Proposed projects should have the potential to meet the funding interests of the W.M. Organic Lecturer position
As Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Portland State University (PSU), I am writing to request your assistance in identifying any graduates or affiliates of your department who may be interested in a full-time lecturer position in Organic Chemistry at PSU beginning September 2018.
We seek an exceptional educator who will contribute to the tradition of high-quality teaching in the Department. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with the Organic Chemistry faculty in the development of curriculum, teach one of the large enrollment sections of sophomore Organic Chemistry (125 – 400 students), coordinate and oversee the Organic Chemistry teaching laboratories and graduate student TAs, and manage the course workshops. Full details of the job responsibilities can be found at https://www.pdx.edu/chemistry/search.In addition to working with Chemistry faculty, the candidate will have an opportunity to interact with a growing cadre of discipline-based education researchers at PSU collaborating to support the campus STEM Initiative. Several major interdisciplinary grants are in place to provide an infrastructure to support this research, which contributes to a dynamic environment in which to work.The position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry and relevant teaching experience. This is a non-tenure track, renewable 9-month appointment to begin in the Fall of 2018. Review of applications will begin June 15 and will continue until the position is filled. Retirement: Pre-retirement Panel Discussion on the Non-financial Aspects of Retirement. Workshop presented by OSURA (Oregon State University Retirement Association). For Faculty and Staff that are within 1-3 years of retirement. Retirement is a major life transition and requires planning for other than just financial matters. Discussion will explore these areas and illustrate some aspects of the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of retirement.
