2018 Health Engagement Model (HEM)
If you elect to participate in the 2018 HEM, you MUST complete the online health assessment by October 31, 2017.  The HEM program will provide a financial incentive in your pay if you elect to participate and a financial disincentive in your health plan if you choose not to participate.  To complete, login to/or create (as applicable) your account with your current health insurance provider.

Humans versus Zombies, a student-led activity, will be taking place on the Oregon State University Corvallis campus from Monday October 23rd until Saturday October 28th, 2017. During this game, players will be on campus with toy Nerf blasters in what is, in essence, a game of tag.  This game has been played yearly since 2008.

Our goal in sending this email is to alert our campus community who might not expect this event to be played on campus and to recognize what is going on.  We want to respect those who might experience alarm or distress when seeing groups of individuals moving throughout campus carrying Nerf blasters.

Participants of this outdoor-only game will be indicated by a colorful band of cloth worn on either the individual’s head or arm.  Please note that participants with BRIGHT PINK bands are acting as moderators, or referees, and can tell the players to move gameplay to another location if asked by OSU faculty or staff.  We estimate that there will be between 50 and 200 participants.  During this game you might see groups of players running around together, picking up brightly marked boxes, chasing one another around campus, and playing with Nerf blasters.

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wyoming invites applications for an extended term Academic Professional Lecturer (APL) in organic chemistry. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate organic chemistry level and manage the undergraduate organic teaching labs. Responsibilities for the organic teaching labs will include experiment development and testing, supply purchasing, weekly lab setup, managing teaching assistants and maintenance of instruments and labs. The organic lab facilities are comprised of three labs with associated instrument rooms and computer analysis rooms in the recently completed Enzi Undergraduate Lab Facility (http://www.uwyo.edu/chemistry/building/). The successful applicant will also be required to contribute to departmental and university services. Review of applications will begin January 15, 2018 and continue until suitable candidates are identified. The position will start Fall 2018 and will be filled at the Assistant APL level (6 year renewable terms via 9-month appointments). This year, the Next Great Startup is organizing lead-in competitions for participating colleges to determine the next great startup in their field. We are excited to announce that the Honors College will be participating during fall term!  If you know of any HC students with an entrepreneurial spirit, please encourage them to enter this competition.  Students may choose anyone else to be on their team and assist their startup, including faculty, community members, and students from other academic colleges.

Job Details:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville invites applications for a tenure-track position in Organic Chemistry or Polymer Chemistry/Polymer Science to begin in August 22, 2018. Applicants with interdisciplinary interests related to material science and/or synthesis of polymers will be considered.

Qualifications:
Required:
• A Ph.D. in Chemistry or a very closely related discipline.
• One year of teaching experience (which may be satisfied by two semesters of half-time teaching assistantships in graduate school).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience and interest in mentoring undergraduate research.
• Ability to effectively teach general chemistry courses.
• Ability to effectively teach upper-level lecture and lab courses in organic and polymer chemistry.
Preferred:
• Ability to contribute to existing program emphases and/or experience with instrumentation.

Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities include lecture and lab courses in general chemistry, and upper-level courses in organic and polymer chemistry. Curriculum development in organic and polymer chemistry is expected. The successful candidate is expected to establish an independent research program that involves undergraduate students. Additional responsibilities include seeking external funding for undergraduate research, academic advising, performing committee service and other duties as assigned.

Department and College Information:
The Chemistry Department currently consists of 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty, 6 instructional academic staff. The Department offers American Chemical Society (ACS) certified BS degrees in Chemistry, and also offers a Chemistry Minor and a 2-year Pre-Pharmacy Program. The Department has approximately 120 majors and graduates 15 to 20 students per year. Faculty within the program work closely with students and provide several opportunities for undergraduate research.
