The department of chemistry at Smith College is initiating a search for a two- to three-year combined teaching and research postdoctoral fellow position in organic chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Kevin Shea to begin July 2017.  Teaching responsibilities will include two courses per year in intermediate and advanced organic chemistry.  All members of the Chemistry Department participate in teaching and we seek a colleague committed to learning, developing, and maintaining a dynamic curriculum that is responsive to the needs of Smith’s diverse and talented student body. Applicants must have a Ph. D. in chemistry and a commitment to excellence in teaching.

We believe this is an outstanding opportunity for any Ph.D. graduate who would like to get real academic experience at a top liberal-arts institution. Smith College is a member of the Five College Consortium with Amherst, Hampshire, and Mount Holyoke Colleges, and the University of Massachusetts.

We are very interested in having a strong pool of candidates, especially those from under-represented groups. We ask for your help in identifying any potential candidates that you may see fitting our criteria. We are including a copy of an advertisement soon to appear in Chemical & Engineering News. We appreciate you taking the time to consider this request and/or to pass the information along to eligible candidates.
