The OCHIN Research team was established in 2011 with a mission to improve the health of underserved populations, enhance their quality of care, and inform health policy through research. We are currently looking for Healthcare Research Analysts and Biostatisticians who can provide high-level professional, substantive, technical, and analytical support to researchers within OCHIN and to external collaborators.

We are currently looking to create a pool of candidates that we can draw from when we have new position openings for Research Analysts and Biostatisticians. Please be aware that this is an ongoing call for applications and that we may not reach out to you right away.

Some of the work involved in these roles:

  • Contribute to discussions and decisions on study design, statistical approaches and analytical strategies with principal investigators, co-investigators, and other collaborators
  • Create, organize and analyze datasets for research studies
  • Operationalize conceptual variables and translate specific research questions into appropriate functional and analytic designs and protocols
  • Use your knowledge of healthcare systems and data to support and help improve the safety net through research, reporting, and analytics
  • Summarize data using different tools (SAS, SQL, etc.) and create output in the form of charts, tables, and other reports
  • Explain complex statistical concepts and results to health researchers with different levels of statistical training
  • Assist the team in preparing presentations and publications to disseminate research findings to scientific and technical audiences
  • Provide technical/consultative services to PBRN clinician members, affiliated investigators, and other research personnel
  • Certain positions may involve supervision of other project staff

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s level degree (MS, MA, MPH, MPA) in research, analytics, or related field with a strong emphasis on analytical methods (e.g. biostatistics, economics, other healthcare related analytics); or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 3 years of collaborative research experience, preferably in a similar role
  • Minimum 2 years of programming experience with SAS (preferred) and/or other statistical software
  • Experience working with healthcare data (EHR, claims, etc.), and knowledge of its use for research, analysis, and reporting
  • Working knowledge of statistical theory and hypothesis testing, quantitative analysis methods, and database management techniques
  • Working knowledge of specialized and complex statistical modeling techniques preferred
  • Knowledge of clinical reporting methods and requirements preferred, particularly for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) (e.g., UDS reporting, Meaningful Use)
  • Experience working with large, complex relational databases and familiarity with SQL coding preferred
  • Peer-reviewed publication history preferred
  • Expert knowledge of standard desktop computing software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, Internet browsers, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently on multiple tasks, make decisions about how to prioritize and implement work, and create work schedules and task deadlines needed to meet project timelines
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast-moving environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication, professional demeanor, excellent customer service skills, the ability and desire to respectfully resolve conflict
