We are international students from many countries studying English at INTO OSU. We signed up to take the course English Through Volunteering because we care about engaging with and giving back to the Corvallis, Oregon community.
We are improving our English skills by having real interactions with people as we accomplish projects and have conversations about social issues, and we are also forming relationships with the people of Corvallis.
We are happy to have the opportunity to learn about the community and to play a vital role in community development as volunteers. For us, learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom, and service means making a difference in people’s lives by participating in projects that we care about.
