The FSGP (July 17 \u2013 19) is a three-day track race against universities from around the country and serves as the qualifier for the biannual ASC (July 21 \u2013 28), an eight-day road race from Austin, Texas to Minneapolis, Minnesota purely on solar power!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1126\" class=\"wp-caption thumbnail aligncenter\" style=\"width: 300px;\">\n    <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/engineering\/files\/2014\/07\/OSU-SVT.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1126 \" alt=\"Oregon State Solar Vehicle Team\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.oregonstate.edu\/engineering\/files\/2014\/07\/OSU-SVT-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1017\/files\/2014\/07\/OSU-SVT-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/osu-wams-blogs-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/blogs.dir\/1017\/files\/2014\/07\/OSU-SVT.jpg 960w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\n    <figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Oregon State Solar Vehicle Team<\/figcaption>\n    <\/figure>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The team first competed in the 2008 ASC and again in 2012. On the second attempt, the team took sixth place out of seventeen teams, and won the \u201cSpirit of the Rayce\u201d award for being the embodiment of what the American Solar Challenge stands for: excellence in engineering, team work, and sportsmanship. Most recently, the team took first place at the 2013 FSGP and once again was awarded the \u201cSpirit of the Rayce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The team consists of driven engineering students who are getting an incredible opportunity to apply their developing engineering, problem solving, and teamwork skills to an exciting project. The team has changed significantly within the last year as many of the senior team members have moved on from Oregon State, providing newer students the opportunity to get involved in the team\u2019s leadership and experience solar car racing for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The team left Corvallis on July 7 and arrived in Austin onJuly 12 and was first to pass inspection.
